Are you comparing Lisa to a dead horse? Are you ready to send her to the glue factory? I, on the other hand, don't even want her to walk the plank - not yet, anyway...

I did go 10 meters past what I needed for 700k. I was just really feeling it and blew right past to 700,010.

Welcome, Adit!! Glad to have you aboard!! Grab an oar and make yourself at home in our little boat. Things are a little quiet here prior to the challenge, but we'll be ramping up soon!

P.S. -- I love your affiliation picture -- where was that taken? Looks AWESOME!!

Saw this posted to the Concept2 Facebook page, from someone who observed this rowing technique at his gym. It's a hoot!

And now to compare and contrast... "A look at how the Washington men's crew program builds speed for the spring - dozens of ergs, synced together and suffering together. How championships are won."

Disclaimer. I don't look ANYTHING like this when I row! :P

Thanks Lisa. The picture was taken deep in the Himalayas a few years ago. Had the views all to myself!

Interesting. What do you think their SPM is? Asking because I used the Interactive Weight Loss tool to create a workout for me and it describes the various levels of Training Bands and one factor is stroke per minute (SPM) the lower bands show a SPM of 18-20, and 20-24 which seems really low to me. I typically row in the 28-32 range but maybe I'm doing it wrong.

Indeed... All their shirts HAVE come off. What a darn shame.

I FORCED myself to watch it again :D and came up with around 24-26 SPM. I usually row between 20 and 24. Are you doing intervals?

Never too early!! I got you, bro. B)

To our newer members, we have a stats feature where you can set a goal for the challenge and we'll track it in our challenge stats report. So if you want to set a goal for yourself like Brent has, post it here. Please make it a clear request (i.e. don't bury it in a bunch of other comments, cuz I might miss it). It's completely optional, but it really does help to set a goal and see your progress towards it!

For those of you who have been around a while, I'm gonna save the "Virtual Rowed Trip" fun for the VTC, so be thinking where we want to travel to this year! Europe? Africa? Alaska down the west coast to Mexico? For you new folks, here was our VTC row from 2011. We rowed 10,941,785 meters, or 6,801 miles, and did a virtual road trip from Maine to Florida and beyond, via San Francisco. It was fun!

Nope I am just rowing regularly though the weight loss program is outlined as intervals. I haven't kicked off my weight loss program yet.

I keep my display showing calories/hr and tend to focus on staying 700+ I vary between slower SPM (28ish) with more power in the legs and faster SPM (30-32) without so much focus on the legs. If it sounds like a have regimented approach then I have misrepresented the above, mostly I keep an eye on those things and depending on energy level will push harder or stay more relaxed. or I'll get distracted by whats on my monitor and find that i stopped pulling to watch the screen :-)

I am now curious how everyone else monitors their workout? What display do you tend to use on your PM3/PM4?
