Also, I just noticed that "Talk Like a Pirate Day" (September 19) is fast approaching. Yar! Time to clean out the scuppers, and pump out the bilge!

Man overboard!! Full speed astern! Lower the lifeboats! Shiver the timbers!

I personally like the Wint-O-Green variety cuz when you crunch 'em in the dark they shoot off a little light show.

This is confusing to EVERYONE when it gets to challenge time. There are two entities -- the year-round affiliation "TimBukTOO", and the challenge team "TimBukTWO". You can belong to both. The "TWO" thingie is just for team challenges, like the Fall Challenge. Go to this page to join TimBukTWO if you haven't done so, but then you ALSO need to click something lower on the page to indicate that you want to participate in the Fall Team Challenge.

But wait, there's more!! Our bold and brazen Cap'n Izz also has to work some Cap'n'y magic behind the C2 scenes to get us going for the challenge as well. I just signed up for the challenge and don't show up on the team yet. I'll run up the colors to get his attention and hopefully he'll have our little boat in racing trim Toot Sweet!

Have to run to the galley to feed my first mate now. I'll post stats in a mo'.

Remember the all important order, plunder, pillage, then burn!

Lisa - thanks for the heads up on the clicky thingy on a page I never visit that ensures that I am in the Fall (can I say Autumn) challenge.

BTW less false modesty you are the glue that holds this together.

A dry still day in what has been our wettest windiest Summer on record, so 25 miles on the bike in the fresh air and stuff the rower for today.

Yet another farewell to Rivka. I'm sure she'll be back though. I think she belongs to a fabled band of nomadic rowers, the Jaywalk Rare Harts River band, erging from team to team as the seasons change, spreading appleseeds and meters as they travel. Bon voyage, Rivka! Meanwhile, back in the boat, a steadfast and steely-sinewed 7 of 47 members (15%) logged 78,932 total meters Sunday!

Milestones achieved:
Kyle J hit 1.6M, Nancy W hit 200K!! Sa-weet!

Approaching milestones:
Gary is nearing 900K (-42,879m), and Kevin is steaming towards 50K (-3,329m). Row strong, men!

Posted Meters:
Kyle J - 25,464 Can't beat dat!
Gary G - 15,166 Unstoppable!
Adam M - 11,405 Where'd that 405 come from? :)
Matthew R - 11,200 Whew! Back on track!
Nancy W - 6,102 Nice!!
Kevin K - 6,083 Building back!
Fred B - 3,512 The ape-le of our eyes!

Oh, my achin body-did about 12 miles on the river today in the dory with my daughter. Tide going out on the way upriver-tide coming in hard with big wind heading back-2-3 foot waves. 4 hour 35 minutes with one short break-and there I thought I was in decent shape. Now to eat and crawl up the stairs to bed.

As far as I can tell, me lad, ya never left... Does yer fair pirate mug show up on our Affiliation Page?

Our tyrannical Cap'n has finally sobered up and rolled out o' his cabin to fire the cannons at C2, terrorizing them into letting our team participate in the Fall Challenge. We be set to (wait, let me get the order straight...) plunder, pillage, then burn!!

(Definitely don't want to burn before plundering and pillaging. The return on investment is much lower when you do it that way!)

The wee lass had the water cannon and was squirting all the wildlife in sight (or at least trying to). She had her feet up and noshing on strawberries and such the rest of the time :) I was waiting for her to break out the drum and make a rhythm to row to.
