My 8k was outside-headwind one way, opposite current the other :o
For the 8k I went rowing my shell on the Pepacton Reservoir. Amazing place-10 or so miles long, right in the middle of some good sized mountains-no houses or anything. Pretty much as close to a wilderness paddle as you can find. Beautiful.

Hey Lisa

"Give the erg a bump"

Hopefully next upload should keep you happy.

managed to keep ticking over whilst on annual vacation, depending on hotel gyms which explains only a silver medal and spasmodic posting. (BTW top gold medal time - how does soeone spend ten hours a day on an erg ? think they should get out more!)

My personal target is to average 8k per day, as I was on schedule I have just ticked off three days minimum- dog days isn't really much of a challenge- but will be off the machine at the weekend so need to get a cushion (peferably 16k) built up before that gap.

Fortunately as the season gets older missing a day doesn't do as much damage to the average.

Looks like we are topping the league for our size of team - need to double membership to start nipping at other's heels.

Mark, I googled some images from that Reservior -- it looks gorgeous! How's "Tippy-canoe" coming along? ;)

Keith, we usually gain some folks around the time of the Fall Team Challenge, mostly by posting some invitations on the boards here. But if anyone has some ideas for how to boost team recruitment, that would be great!

I'm getting used to the shell. It is fast-the tippy part is getting way better. You use a lot more leg than arms, so my legs are quite sore lately. In the wherry it's all brute strength-the shell is all finesse. But I like it a lot-another fun boat for the fleet.
The Pepacton is a treasure-it's worth a trip just to paddle on it.

Sorry, guys, got sucked into the Matrix, and disappeared off the face of the earth. I am still alive, though completely digitized! My X's are alright, but some of my O's hurt...
I didn't look for a wi-fi hot spot where I am, because I was feeling warm enough already... I got a reasonably good [row-free] workout Friday at a Gold's Gym in NJ, now looking for a gym in NY to work out in today, preferably one with a C2 (tho they seem to divide into ritzy, schools & crossfit). Good to see some old faces pulling some good numbers! Welcome back, Rivka & Sarah - hope you hang on this time...
Super-thanks to Lisa for posting, and posting, and posting!

(Hope to be able to get back On The Grid - and not from the inside - more often over the next few days.)

Going after the Dog Days Challenge, but trying to balance that with an ankle that just won't get better.

Week 1 - 24,000
Week 2 - 31,000

Doing enough to get the challenge but with enough rest to allow me to still walk

Did a row on the Hudson this A.M., went from Kingston Point beach to the Rhinecliff Bridge and return-Guessed at distance of 7k. Beautiful row-sun coming up-water calm and misty. 1 hour 38 minutes. The bad part was I was cruising along and hit a submerged log. Stopped the shell dead in the water , I tumble over backwards, sliding seat comes out of its place, almost capsized and would have lost sliding seat unit. Limped to shore, put the seat unit back, and went on my way. Lesson learned-look back more.
