Yes, we walked the whole marathon until about the last mile, and then Tim broke out in a jog to beat the clock, and we kept up with him so we (my sister and I) could cross the finish line together with him. We decided a few weeks ago that a walking strategy would be the wiser choice to make sure we finished. Final time: 7:45:54. The cut-off time was 8 hours, so we cut it pretty close, but not as close as we thought it was going to be. We were getting a little "motivated" at the end, and really picked up the pace. Today Tim asked his cousin if he wants to do a marathon with him next year. Last I heard from Tim in our final training days was "I'll never do this again." That's youth for you!
