Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
LISA!!! Holy my goodness! Those are such kind words! (that's me blushing) Thank you! Totally hilarious image of Wonder Woman holding my Harry goat-dude baby. You are a clever lady!
I am truly amazed by the studs (both male and female, in this case) on our team who rack up those meters day after day! I am lucky to put in a slim 6000-7000m every other day! I'd love to do more, but the priority right now is to just do enough to stay in shape, then move on to the next activity. Maybe when my little Gravy boat (son Grayson) goes to school in two years, I'll have lots of free time! (yeah, right!)
I am so lucky to have found this team! I like reading everyone's stories, especially those from folks who have gotten themselves on a path to better health through rowing. The energy and enthusiasm of our teammates comes through in these chats and does a great deal toward motivating me to row. I need that because it is easy and tempting to find something else to do with that half-hour.
New teammates: welcome aboard! This is a great place to be!

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Hey there gang,
So i've been at it for a few months now and want to start to test myself, determine my current personal bests and all that. My question is two-fold:
1) What is a good challenging work-out I can intersperse into my regular workouts to push a little harder?
2) How does one enter a personal best or ranking piece into the logbook? (assuming that is where you enter it) The Concept2 FAQ says if a piece entered into my logbook is worthy of 'ranking' there will be a blue link in the status column. Since I've never seen this blue link I am wondering is this even what you refer to when entering a personal best?

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Hi Brent:
Regarding the ranking of you personal bests, After you enter your data into the logbook, you should see a column titled "Status" in the logbook section of the page (down at the bottom of the page http://log.concept2.com/log.asp ). Assuming you rowed a standard time or distance (i.e. 2K, 5K, 30min, 60min, etc.) you should see the work "rank" in the Status column. If you click the word "rank", you will be ranked for that time/distance in your age/gender/weight category.
If you want to really get geeky about it, you can make sure your entry is validated, either by uploading your entries through a log card reader, or through RowPro, or by entering in the validation code that is generated by your PM3/PM4 for every row. If you look on the rankings pages, in the last column, you'll see the entries IND, IND_V, C2Log, RowPro, RACE, etc. All entries but IND are validated; the entries with IND could be real, or could be fake.
I think our fearless leader Izzz can give you best advice about workout strategies. I think some common answers are doing intervals, doing long rows some days and a series of short fast rows other days. There are boards here on C2 devoted to training strategies and you might do well reading and asking over there.
I hope this helps! I hope you have great success!

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Since we're talking about ranking, I just shaved 0.4 seconds off my 2K PB. That's three PBs in a row for me this season! Having a good time doing it, too. I hope this is a great season for you all, too!

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
So if I enter exact distances of 5009 meters etc it will never be ranked? I need to round down to the basic 5000 meters? I've never seen the "rank" option in the status column and i am betting this is whyCONLEJM wrote:(i.e. 2K, 5K, 30min, 60min, etc.) you should see the work "rank" in the Status column.

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
That's correct. If you go to the Rankings page, you can see the list of valid rankable times and distances.bcurry wrote:So if I enter exact distances of 5009 meters etc it will never be ranked? Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
You don't actually round down... You want to set your PM up to do that specific distance before you start your row. So you would set up a 5K piece and row till the meter meter hits 0.bcurry wrote:So if I enter exact distances of 5009 meters etc it will never be ranked? Here I was all pumped up until I saw Walter come along with his two full marathons on his first two days!Izzzmeister wrote: Lee C - 8,000 May still be eligible for Rookie of the Year next season…
Well done Walter and thanks for all the fun Cap'n.

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Thanks for clarifying, Lisa. Brent, the PM3/4 monitor has several standard and custom workouts already pre-programmed into it. Or you can enter in a new time or distance, and you can save them as "favorites" if you use a log card.damselfly wrote:You don't actually round down... Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Thanks guys and gals that really helps remove my confusion. I havent even looked at half the options on my PM3

Not sure I appreciate the geeky epithet, bit too old to qualify as a geek!
But thanks for the tip about IND you can now look forwadr to my 13 minute 5k and 2 hour marathon and I will have my 2M for the season done by the end of next week
