Happy Birthday, Doctor Dan!
Barbara, I do hope that bedbugs don't head for high ground when the water starts rising.

Congratulations to everyone who made milestones since July 1 and speedy recover to those with injuries!
Kristine - Sounds like you are having an incredible trip. Hope you had the chance to take in the John Wesley Powell River History Museum when you were in Green River, Utah. What an incredible story/adventure that must have been to explore the unexplored Colorado River in wooden rowboats.
BG - Yikes! Kind of puts the biting flies, mosquitos, and woodticks in my neck of the woods in perspective.
I am back home, am mostly unpacked, and made some time to upload some photos of my canoe trip. I'll see if I can write up a short trip report within a week. Moose

What a team of adventurers and explorers we have! Just checked in on Baz in The Landy to see where in the Australian world he was, and find that he's nearing the Gulf. The Landy shows no signs of turning back to Sydney... Moose can relate to this! Baz's travel blog contains some great photos - love the Sand Dunes pic - and he's updated it. Here's a link to the blog. It makes for a great read - and some vicarious adventuring for all of us!

Back in space, our target moon grows larger in our sights as we head towards the last half of the month and a full moon on 26 July. Good time to get outside and view the Milky Way and some meteor showers! When you look up at the Milky Way (if you're outside the light pollution zones), cool to think of what part of the spiral galaxy you're seeing...
Season meters as of 74/365 = 12,541,544 m
Total meters on the day = 145,707 m
Oars in space (participation ) = 22 percent
MILESTONES...Bragging Rights...Celebrations:
Will, who is within mere meters of a 1.5 MM milestone (4,797 m to be exact), gets a half moon for his posting of 33,187 m
Minnie get another half marathon into the books and earns a half moon! Well done!
And thanks to all who rowed today !
K2 2,099 m
Tim 3,794 m
Steven L 7,211 m

Rodrigo 12,658 m
Dan 13,146 m

I must say after taking a look at BAZzy's photos that I was amazed to see a Dutch oven properly covered with coals, no doubt simering something wonderful to eat inside at the campsite. And that in the middle of nowhere in OZ, are real Canadian style open canoes! So I wonder what the Australian terms for Dutch oven and canoe are? I thought the outback was cooking with billys country. Moose

I noticed that Dutch oven also! I was trying to figure out what an edible damper was/is ....I think it must be like a sopapilla...either way, looks like Janet is an accomplished outdoor cook!DuluthMoose wrote:

Moose, I saw your post about the museum just a couple of days too late. We got into Green River around 9 pm, and still had to set up camp at the KOA. I made my last posting that morning, and then we took off. We sure would have stopped at the museum if I had known about it in time. Oh well, there's always next time! We are now safely home, and I do hope to post some rowing meters tomorrow.

Howdy...well 'The Landy' is close to pointing it ways back south towards Sydney, but not quite yet.Kona2 wrote:I noticed that Dutch oven also! We simply call it a camp oven, but it is often referred to as a dutch oven here also. Now Janet is a very proficient cook, but I must say that cooking scones and baking cakes in a camp oven is quite challenging as there is no 'temperature' control. The trip is going well, Tomo and his mates are loving it and I'm not sure what I am going to do when I have to go back to work!!
And for those who have never tried damper...it is simply flour and water, how simple is that, we've had it every night (almost) coated in Golden Syrup! And if any of you make it out this way I'm sure Janet will rustle one up for you.....
Cheers Baz

Re: All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 7.13.10
My dad used to make damper when we were at "the camp," outside Bunbury, (nothing like your camps, Baz) but they used to have a little height to them ... maybe baking soda? I now have a powerful urge to go out and buy a can of Golden Syrup. I can feel my blood sugar rising, even as I type!BAZzy wrote:And for those who have never tried damper...it is simply flour and water, how simple is that, we've had it every night (almost) coated in Golden Syrup!
