Although basketball isn't really my thing, I was sort of rooting for Boston over the weekend. I made my first batch of Boston baked beans in a cast iron Dutch oven. Although the boiling part was easily done on a camp stove, I cheated and did the 3 hour baking part at a totally controlled 325 degrees with the Dutch oven inside the *** DELETE - SPAM *** oven. Yum. So now that I know what 325 degrees looks like simmering in the Dutch oven, next time I think I'm ready to try the baking part outside using charcoal briquettes.

Hey, Darryl, your beans sound great, whether they're baked or hubble-bubbled in a cauldron. (I always thought Boston Baked Beans were candy coated peanuts, until we moved to Boston!)

Before the playoffs started I picked Boston in 6, could it happen. But not having the courage of my convictions, a bookie or any spare change I didn't put any anything on it.Oh well.

Moose, I'll take 2 pints of BBB to go, please. Overnight UPS would be good too!

Hi Looneys,
A team member asked if the Summer Solstice row was being done this year and I didn't know. Can you kids help me out?
Thanks

Jim,

Summer Solstice Row is June 21st 21,000 meters but you could add 97 more and get credit for a half marathon..

thanks for all the congrats on the previous page. I haven't had a chance to check in for a while.

However, i will put in a good word for my LAKERS. I'm not a fan of certain team members (Artest for one), but they are the home team. I do hope Moose remembers that they originate in his fair state, as there are no lakes in LA!

Yes, I felt the quake, but it was very mild. Mainly felt dizzy and then noticed the blinds were moving and the window was closed.

School is ending, Daughter graduates 8th grade tomorrow. I''ll have both kids in high school. Yikes, it wasn't that long ago I was in high school!

Anyway, keep those meters coming. Can't win the summer sweeps if you haven't logged 5k! :D

Gina - I was 11 years old when the lakers left, but don't remember feeling that badly about it. I even have vague memories of George Mikan and the talk about his greatness, but at that time he was fading as well as the team. And it was only a couple years ago when KG left Minnesota for Boston. So Minnesota connections to both teams, but no real strong fan feelings on my part either to either team. But tonight's winner does take all! I was (and still am) much more into football and baseball. Will the Twins get the sweep today? Probably not if Kona2 has anything to say about it.

Image Moose, realizing that K2 cannot possibly resist the hook he has pitched, basks in the delight of two of three games won (thus far) by the Minnesota Twins over the Colorado Rockies. Who will win today's matchup between the two teams?? Today's pitcher for the Rockies is Ubaldo Jimenez - he was my favorite pitcher last year and he's doing even better this year. He has a work ethic you'd admire, Moose - gotta go with the Rockies today (especially after watching the Cook implosion yesterday).
