Careful there, don't mess with the Izz. His ranked time is considerably faster...his easy cruises beat pretty much all of our PBs.

Sorry, nobody can quite be The Izzz - but you may still be able to be The Izzzn't!

(My ranked time this year in the 10K is 36:45.8 (which will probably be demolished in the next few weeks), my PB is 36:08.1. Not bad for an old fogey...)

Wow. Considering my 5k times are in the 27minute range I wonder how long and what training process is required to get to that level of performance?

I've been going good and steady since February and i am starting to notice my performance pick-up. Now that some of the supporting muscles are strengthening I can push a little harder and it is starting to feel much more like the cardio workout I was hoping for. i can only imagine it is a constant process of pushing harder slowly but surely to allow wrists, arms, back/core, etc. to strengthen to allow for longer strokes and more strength in the legs correct? Because my legsl can certainly push harder it just throws my form off and starts to tweak thing like my wrist and my thumb. My thumb? From gripping I guess.

Anyway, enjoying my progress and feel like i am really getting into the swing of things. Does anyone think it is unusual that i have not lost any weight? Maybe a pound or two is all but I am definitely slimming down per my wife and lets face it shes the one who matters.

love the team, thanks for accepting me in and thanks for the regular encouragement.

p.s. i dove into march madness and now the WEC but i am wondering does c2 just do challenge after challenge? I may need to take a break and get a few more days off in soon :-)

I don't think your lack of weight loss is odd. Your body is likely demanding more fuel and you are eating back some of those exercise calories one way or another. I spent my first nine months on the rower allowing myself to consume extra fuel to cover the new exercise. I didn't lose a single pound, but I did swap some fat for muscle and greatly improved my overall level of fitness. I've now reached the point where I'm out-rowing those extra calories and have seen some weight loss. I try to keep my protein intake over 20% in hopes of not losing any muscle along with the fat.

C2 doesn't normally overlap challenges. There will be a break soon enough. The calendar is here: http://www.concept2.com/us/motivation/c ... lendar.asp

Not at all "odd"..the scales is just numbers and it is muscle that is more compact and makes us look thinner..the way our clothes fit is the key..if you look better..great!!and feel better!! I am a certified personal trainer and all my clients always relied on numbers and that can make your progress slow in your mind.Rowing is a great overall workout!!
