Congrats!
Congratulations Ted on Rowing 3 Million Meters This Season! Great!
I'm taking a day or two off from rowing. My BIL from Ironwood, Mich area has a couple basswood saw logs set aside for me and I need to mill them before the weather warms and the wood boring beetles make swiss cheese out of my future wood carving wood. So off on a mission today.

It's a wrap!
Woohoo! 2010 is a wrap! What an amazing year for the LunaTics team! We discovered red giants, supernovas, rowed more meters than ever before and have more teammates in the boat than ever before. We've had alien abductions and returns, a new singing group, and a few injuries here and there. Best of all, throughout the year we've supported each other in all endeavors - and that's what it's all about. Well done!!
The last rowing day of 2010....and I was faced with a dilemma. I had not completed the Global Marathon Challenge, and time was running out quickly. The evil twin said "you've already rowed half marathons this year. You're doing bike training now." The good (but guilt mongering) twin said "you've completed every single challenge this year...and you're going to skip the very last one...and leave the year incomplete?!" Aaaack. What to do, what to do. The last half I rowed was January 2nd. Uff da just at the thought of more than a 10K.....yep, I rowed that half yesterday.
Congratulations to the Global Marathon Challenge finishers:
Full Marathon:
Bart - 3
Kristine
Ted C-G
Half Marathon:
Minnie - 6
Kristine
K2
Will S
Steven D
Dan
Darryl

Half moon for Ted with 29,000 m as he completes his 3 MM meter milestone

Thru 5.01.10
Hooyah! Our journey to the moon continues!
Team History
The LunaTics are a charter virtual team - the team was formed in 2003, the first year that Concept2 instituted virtual teams. Matt Forsbacka, who worked with NASA, founded the team - and the goal is/was to row enough meters to get to the moon (384,000,000 m). Team size and meters rowed changed significantly with a couple of events: Kristine Strasburger signed the LunaTics team up for the virtual teams challenge in 2007, and in 2008 the discovery of the C2 forum - and its subsequent daily use by this team. As Kristine said in her Captain's log entry for May 1, 2008 "Apart from the time we all spend on this forum sharing our thoughts and our lives with each other, our C2 team affiliation is nothing more than an entry in a computer form. Every one of you who posts here, and even those teammates who have not posted, but keep on logging those meters every week, have made this team what it is. It is pretty amazing when you stop and think about it. So I just want to say "thank you" to everyone here for becoming a part of my life in this way, and making exercise so much fun. You never know whose life you are affecting in a positive way with your presence and your words." Kristine Strasburger, LunaTics Team Captain.
Flash forward now to rowing year 2011....and it's sure to be a banner year for the LunaTics because we will indeed make moonfall this year. When that momentous event will occur is up to all of us - and how we row. What is certain is that we'll celebrate all the milestones along the way.
Season meters as of 1/365 = 169,062 m
Total meters on the day = 169,062 m
Oars in the water (participation) = 100 percent (would be great to be able to announce this occurrence more than once a season!)
MILESTONES...Bragging Rights....Celebrations:
Will S is out of the starting gate with a red giant and 52,000 m
Baz, a half moon for 34,460 m (two days likely since we could not see meters for Oz the first day of the 2011 season)
Bart with a half moon and 25,000 m
And a hearty welcome back to all the crew putting meters on the first day boards:
Tony 111 m
K2 229 m
Steven L 2,000 m
Peter G 4,500 m
Noelle 4,706 m
Barbara 5,020 m
Rich 5,020 m
David T 6,000 m
Dan 7,013 m
Mike C 10,000 m
Greg H 12,502 m
Bart 25,000 m
Baz 34,460 m
Will S 52,000 m
Thanks for the inspiration!
Thank you all for inspiring me this past rowing year! I don't know how Kona does it with the daily posts, but they give me a reason to keep on rowing! I been flying below the radar the past few months since the holiday challenge, but I FINALLY managed to hit 4 million meters on April 30th! I'm hoping to be a more regular contributor this year and perhaps reach 5 millon by April 30, 2011.
Again, thank you all for your energy, inspiration and team spirit! I'm proud to be travellin' to the Moon with y'all.
Noelle
