All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 3.08.10

Post by Kona2 » March 9th, 2010, 1:54 pm

On our rowing horizon..... ImageImage million meters....will today be the day?!

ImageYOU CAN DO IT :!: :!: :!:

Image Gina...awash in numbers of all kinds....has less than 10K to go for a 1.5 MM milestone....hooyah!
AJ....nearing the 800K mark....whoa....we're going to do a countdown here....
Tony....less than 6K to 600K milestone....doubly celebrated since 3 is a factor of 600....
MT...less than 5K to the 400K milestone....

ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage    Image

19 more rowing days in the land of the green....the pot of gold awaits! 32 Luna-Tics on the boards...19 of them are in the 10K a day challenge!!

Image
This challenge is not for the faint of heart...the challengers are falling off the progress boards! A 23 percent drop in the overall number of participants occurred overnight - the rowing force weakened! This number may change with today's postings as some may not have uploaded their meters recently. If there's a 2 by your name on the progress boards, you're in the get-your-certificate elimination zone if you don't post a qualifying row today ....but you're still eligible for prize drawings on any of the remaining days in March where you row a qualifying row...

Season meters as of 312/365 = 97,781,058 m

Total meters on the day = 222,152 m

Oars in space (participation) = 23 percent

MILESTONES...Bragging Rights...Celebrations:

1.6 MM Steven D

Have you noticed that since the "Time of The Transformation" aka Forum Redesign....that there's been an alien influence to the shape of the smilies???

Have a transformational day....wherever and whenever you row!

Well ... where to begin :?:

I'm back.

I've signed up for the WRC, but please don't expect any mega metres - at least for awhile.

The next several weeks will be spent getting myself back in functional shape - some healing, but mostly mental.

So glad to see the Luna-Tics still fighting strong. Althought I have not yet gone back and caught up with the postings since I went away, I am sure there were many personal milestones reached - Congratulations to all and thanks for being part of the team :D

I must admit I was surprised to see my name still at the top of the Team rankings - Come on, Bart, I'm sure you can beat up an old man like me before the end of the season

Thank you all for the continuing support.

Woohoo and hooyah, team! Congratulations on achieving a ImageImage million meter season! (Thus far!)

March Madness Challenge: 30 Luna-Tics on the progress boards with 18 on the 10K boards! If there's a "3" by your name on the progress board.....it's time to row! Your get-your-certificate for rowing at least 25 of the 31 days in March is at risk!

Image Meanwhile, after completing the day's row, the crew gathers at the Sham Rock to quaff a brew, and hear a strange (but true!) tale. Crew members often go on sabbaticals - sometimes we know why, and other times we generate our own theories. Our man at the top of the leaderboard, William H of Nevada, is also known as Wild Bill since he frequently rows multiple days of really long distances....enough to be at the top of the leaderboard. Wild Bill's been missing from the daily tally's for three months....until yesterday, when we received a cryptic message: " I'm back. I've signed up for the WRC, but please don't expect any mega metres - at least for awhile. The next several weeks will be spent getting myself back in functional shape - some healing, but mostly mental. Thank you all for the continuing support. Wild Bill" Wild Bill's in recovery mode at the moment, but here's what we think happened:

Image
The Return of Wild Bill

Alien ships were taking part in maneuvers deep in the Nevada desert....ImageImageImageImage.

Image There was a full saguaro moon that night - perfect for Wild Bill's pursuit. Rumors of alien ships in the Nevada desert had increased in frequency, and he'd been hired to secure a new base installation. ImageImageImageHe never saw the aliens...they acted quickly to establish total mind control....and three months passed. Crew members sent out communications, but the radio signals were jammed.

And now, from the Nevada desert, the good ship Luna-Tic receives a communication in the ancient language of morse code ....."I'm back." It's the return of Wild Bill....welcome back! Can't wait to hear how he escaped!

Season meters as of 311/365 = 98,102,357 m

Image Barbara with a posting of 21,235 m (half marathon/moon # 167)! earns a half moon
Image Chris aka Minnie earns a half moon for half marathon # 210 on the year

And thanks to all today's crew for all the kinds of meters: we couldn't get to the moon without you!

I know 2 winners in that race; both with useless prizes! - my other friend won a pair of shorts (she doesn't row and never wears shorts without a pocket for her cell phone. However she does drink coffee. Maybe I should introduce you two!

AJ won a cheese package early in the return race ... a very generous amount of tasty Cheddar, we're still working our way through it. (I would have liked any of those prizes, but was hoping for the spa trip!)

March Madness Challenge Update: 29 LunaTics on the progress boards!! Way to row!!

We've seen increased participation in the challenges by the rowing community throughout the season. This challenge is no different. Worldwide, about 700 more participants are still in the challenge as of this date as compared to last year. Similarly, last year at this time, 22 LunaTics were on the boards.

Season meters as of 314/365 = 98,385,148 m

A word or two about our LunaTic distance awards for those who are perusing the forum:

I'm thinking that this time next year, Team Luna-Tics ship will arrive at the moon! Maybe we can have green beer with our green cheese to celebrate!

We have 112 MM meters to go to reach our target at the Sea of Tranquility. If all things remained constant (which they never seem to do), we could project that landing might occur sometime in March or April, 2011. Summer might be good if we were considering a landing celebration....working around canoe time, of course. Something to think about - because we surely will get to the moon!
