Congrats, you earned your rest. How is the lovely Mrs. Stig doing these days?
Hi Chris, She is doing fine, enjoying with me the rest I took after my 2MM:

PS. She might need some encouragements to pickup rowing again.

What kind of misnomer is Blackwater then? I sure don't think of clear water....! You do have grand adventures!

Kona2 - The Blackwater River is clear water meaning, not turbid and not carrying a heavy load of settleables. However its drainage is through a heavily wooded area of mixed conifer and deciduous trees. The leaves and needles of this forest fall and decompose, and a heavy load of tannins end up in the river. This load tints the water dark, and thus the name Blackwater. But it was far from being black, more of a New Glarus Uff da bock amber color that you could easily see six or more feet down to the bottom in.

BAZzy - I'm sure you would have enjoyed those two river outings, but getting out of a kayak mid river to scamble across log jams could have been a little challenging. Far easier to do that from an open canoe.

Image Moose as alter ego Jungle Boy (who discovered early that the vines were quite barbed) and friends navigate the rivers of Florida......upstream of the tannins...
Thanks for the explanation on Blackwater...perhaps you'll find a hidden stash of New Glarus Uff Da Bock while on this adventure (we could persuade them to brew it again?!)

Hi Moose...Kayak is a a bit of a mis-nomer for me...apart from the K1, the other two 'kayaks' of mine are surf ski's..not sure why they call them kayaks (but they do).......however both are around 6.5 metre long, making portage always an interesting exercise......

Ah, shucks, y'all. Thx. We don't have a tv, so my evening viewing is limited to movies ... it just so happens that a HM takes me the same amount of time as most films ... I simply stay to the end of whatever I'm watching!

I knew it; you only do it for the movies! Are you eating popcorn while watching these movies. Kinda defeats the purpose of rowing, no. LOL

Lefty

PS I would love to strap up for a HM.
