Whilst not normally a big fan, KD Lang certainly nailed "Hallelujah". B)
Any Lunatics getting along to it?
I don't suppose the Moose got to paddle in one of the torch relay canoes?

Cheers,
Dave
Dave - I missed the opening ceremonies last night. My wife and I were at a local theater watching Gilbert and Sulivan's, "Trial by Jury" as well as other memorable songs from other G&S productions done over the last several seasons by our local Rubber Chicken Theater Group. I'm still chuckling. Maybe there will be a re-run of the Oympic opener sometime this week.

And although I would have jumped at the opportunity, I wasn't asked to be part of the torch relay canoe thing. I suspect you had to be a card carrying Canadian for that. But how cool would that have been paddling long distance with a torch mounted in a canoe. But then the torch bearer would also have the huge responsibility of not igniting the whole north Canadian woods on fire on unbrushed portage trails with tinder dry pine and balsam boughs within range of the torch on every step.

ImageFrom the Luna-Tics's ship's log: We appear to be entering a dangerous segment of our space journey....the moon doldrums, which like their earthly counterpart, are notorious for their impact on sailing vessels. We could become becalmed for many days (or even WEEKS). The windless area is subject to violent meteor storms and space lightning. The crew plots a course to steer through these storms while fighting the side effect of listlessness!

Minnesota Style Row-mantic

Here is what one Minnesota farmer did for Valentine's Day for his sweetie. (I think he was one of those Norwegian bachelor farmers you hear about...ya no!)

Aww, that's sweet. (Your newspaper says it's 15 degrees right now ... brrrr. Here I am, thinking that winter is over.)

Hi Jan,

I'm just returned from a business trip to the "Windy City of Chicago". I did bring some of it's breeze home to power my sails. Can't wait to start rowing again.

To all Luna's out there. Happy Valentine's Day

That may be sweet (smelling) now, but wait till it starts thawing out in a few weeks. 15 degrees is a good thing in this case....

Well, it looks like today is the perfect day to get back on the rower. I got all my tax paperwork done, and turned in on Friday, and have the whole day free. Time to motivate the whole family to earn their Valentine today!

Way to row, Sinead! Good work setting your own goal!

Image Happy Valentine's Day to the northern hemisphere folks! Aussie's paved the way yesterday!

Wowzer, mates! What a row-mantic bunch we are! There are 25 Luna-Tic crew members on the erg lovers board....and still time to add more! Some say they've traveled all the way from the Netherlands to Chicago and back...just in time to earn valentines! Welcome back, Stig!

Meanwhile, deep in the heart of Florida, and gator land, Danno discovers that Captain Hook had some good thoughts as Danno creates quite the rig in order to earn those valentines:

Image rowing handle replaced with a clip  Image Voila! Dan's clipped the shoulder stabilizing harness to the hook and chain...definitely some new appreciation for contribution of the arms to the rowing efforts!

And, from the southern hemisphere, Dave sends a new graphic for our skiing Moose from Duluth! Thanks, Dave! Since it's snowing everywhere but Vancouver here in the northern hemisphere, I suspect Moose will heed the call of the cross country....er....watch that one field, Moose!

Imagine my surprise when I "earned" my Valentine's Day certificate on Saturday night! Hadn't noticed that midnight had come and gone, 15 minutes before my movie finished ... for a brief moment I thought I might be the first ... then the International Dateline knowledge prevailed and I realized that our Aussies were already considering what to throw on the barbie for supper.

CRASH B's

Post by Kona2 » February 14th, 2010, 3:10 pm

CRASH B Sprints are occurring right now -- they are in Race 19! Judging from the winning times, looks to me like Gina's finishing time in the Beach Sprints was really competitive! Hooyah, Gina!

Thank you Kona for posting this. WOW. I had no idea that I would have been so competitive. Holly Metcalf is the MIT Coach and was a member of the 1984 Olympic team. So that's amazing company to be in. However you will note that I would not have challenged the top 3 at all!

SO I'm not going to attempt a 2K today, I'll do a 1K and perhaps a 4 min row instead. I need to improve my ranking scores in those events. Looks kinda silly when the 6K time is faster than the 1K!

so today finishes the 3 week set of workouts. need a new set

Gina

I guess moose aren't the most graceful looking on skiis. I wanted to get out skiing yesterday, but had to dig my mostly buried canoe trailer out of the snow and shovel a path to get it to my driveway, check it out, and load it up for a long trip south. Hopefully after packing for the trip, I will have a couple hours in the next 2 days to get out on the ski trails one more time before I leave. If you can log into Facebook, I posted a 30 sec video of me on the ski trail the last time out.
