Lunar Update

Post by Kona2 » November 30th, 2009, 9:57 pm

Every meter moves us closer to our lunar landing in the Sea of Tranquility....where we will be less than tranquil in our celebration!!

While we follow yearly seasonal trends, there is indeed something special about this year's Luna-Tic rowing team......the spike for the Fall Rowing Challenge is a good metric for the upcoming challenges!

And one more Luna-Tic

Wowzer, mates! We're going to have the Luna-Tics flag planted one of these years! We have another new teammate to help us row to the moon! Welcome Ian! We wish you many hours of good rowing, and lots of milestones to celebrate! And a holiday challenge pin. :D

The Luna-Tics team history, and an explanation of some of our moon-based distance awards, was recently posted on p. 344. We're 61 percent of the way to the moon...and dreaming of a 100 MM meter team season! Glad you are joining the crew!

Hi Kiba,

The froggy didn't jump all the way last month. The prognosed 500K was still a bridge too far for me. But I gave it a try. November 2009 will still be in my personal recordbook as a month with the most meters ever. If personal life isn't intervening too much December might be close or a little better. I still have to make up for the "lost" meters of October. My 3MM season isn't a walk in the park yet.

Anyhow thank you for accepting the challenge.

Peter H.

Wow --- I go away for a couple of days and come back to four more "Loonies" on the Challenge Honor Board

New members, mega metres - hey, it's all good!

Since I just arrived home after a 9 hour drive, it's going to take some real grit to get on the Erg today, but we'll see what I can come up with.

Go Luna-Tics! :D

Aye Aye, Captain!

Luna-Tic ergs are flying through the challenge! With the addition of a new crew for the good ship Luna-Tic yesterday, we put almost one million meters in the team meter piggy bank! And for this year's challenge, meters are indeed converted to dollars through the Concept2 Holiday Challenge...you're helping contribute to one of four different charity organizations for each meter beyond 100K in the challenge! So row, row, row!

Biking

Post by denver_bill » December 1st, 2009, 3:16 pm

Why, it was just this morning I told my wife that we have been experiencing a warm season so far. Of course, that was before I looked at the forecast. Yikes! Here comes wiinter. And there goes the bike to the family room onto the trainer next to the erg.

Now I've got to decide which I want to do. I guess I'll go back and forth between the two.

Ride, row, ride, row, ride, row.....

Wow... welcome to all the new members (I got a shock to see so many new faces when I just went through the team list on the site)!! B) B)

Denver Bill, you need to leave the bike in storage until we get to the moon... then you can get it out to go pick up the moon piza and cup-cakes for the big party!
Speaking of cup-cakes... anyone know how Kiba is doing lately?

Cheers,
Dave

I'll second that Dave, lots of new members. Thomas is checking out the team board on a daily basis these days...

...I was in Bris-vegas yesterday for work, so no rowing as plane didn't get back until late......so I just went to bed!

Also Dave...let me know if you ever want to go for a paddle on the Hawkesbury...I'm gearing up to race in the winter marathon series next year, starts March, so I'll need to spend some more time on the ERG, less in the gym....

Cheers

Dear Santa

Post by Kona2 » December 1st, 2009, 11:05 pm

Gloves. A topic that gets discussed at least once a year. Put 'em on your Dear Santa list.

Image Image

It's true that gloves aren't for everyone. But for some of us, they have been most welcome. I'm providing a link to a company that supplies a lot of rowing gloves, for both indoor and on the water use. The benefits of the gloves with the wrist support (at least for me) have been that they do keep your wrists in good alignment so there is less nerve numbness, etc., as you start going for longer distances. The open glove approach allows for breathability - and you can wash the hand pads. They are really lightweight, provide good protection against blistering and callus formation. See what you think.
