acrewer wrote:no power last night, between 6pm and 9pm - high winds. Started rowing while it was still light enough to see. Set the monitor for 7K, forgot that I would not know when I reached 7K - so would stop, turn on the flashlight every 2 songs on my IPOD. Then when I got close (300 m to go), I counted strokes - rowing in the dark was interesting experience. Obviously could not post meters until today.

Gina - Careful about rowing on the Dark Side..... May the force be with you.

Kona2 - Dashing through the snow this morning? What ever happened to fall this year? The high for October so far in Duluth has been 56F this year. And that was one of only two days its been "warm enough" for me to be out paddling a canoe.

Time is at a premium...

Post by Dave_H » October 29th, 2009, 7:33 am

Finding it very difficult to get time on the erg at the moment. Like Chris during the Fall challenge, our (small) house is very full at the moment with the WA "outlaws" - and it is tough to get a window to row between work and people sleeping in the erg room! They leave town on the last day of the Skeleton challenge, so if I haven't qualified by then I will put in a finishing burst!

Congrats to Dan on his 15, Bazzy on his 4 and Big Maq on his first million for the season! B) B) B)

Cheers,
Dave

Let it snow....

Post by Kona2 » October 29th, 2009, 9:27 am

If I left my bikes outside....I'm sure that I'd be greeted with a sight similar to this photograph from a 9News viewer in Nebraska (thanks for sharing the photo btw):

So far (and the white stuff is still falling!), we have about 20 inches of snow where I am....Tim in Blackhawk has received about 40 inches I believe....Yesterday's rowing was supplanted by a few sessions of shoveling! This being Denver....blue skies by Friday!

Ah, I can smell the aroma of wet dog from here ... they look like they're mushing through the Yukon. Did you trade a Golden for a Huskie or are Ki's (Kona's?) floppy Retriever ears just caught in an up-draft?

Our temps are dropping, also. I'm certainly rethinking my scheduled 2-hour moonlight kayaking trip tomorrow night ... although, the moon will be beautiful on the lake.

Jan, you might want to consider some low-cal Purina Bird Chow in that feeder. (I know, I know ... puffy not chubby.)
