Wild Bill or Sneaky Pete?

Post by Kona2 » October 9th, 2009, 8:23 pm

We should have known......our scouts spotted the dust cloud hours ago...thought initially that rockets were being deployed in the Nevada desert once again....

Image

And what to my wondering eyes did appear......a quarter million and one meters on Wild Bill's slate.....now he's only 86K from a one million meter challenge....and number six on the challenge individual rower list.

Image or is he the Rogue Rower??!

Yup, I'm BAAAAAACCCCCCKKKKKK :D

And very impressed with the team's efforts in my absence - kudos to all :!: Our Team maintained position in both the annual rankings and the FRC where we are a solid Third Place!

Luckily the gym where I was had an erg (Gold's Gym) and the assignment turned out to be a lot of "Hurry up ... and wait" so I only missed two days of rowing and had a lot of down time. The bad news is, because of the down time issues, I'll probably have to go back again later this month with a guarantee of more working, less rowing.

All told, my 251,000 metre update was 3 Half Moons, 3 Full Moons and 2 days off - and yes, still on track for a 1MM FRC.

It's great to be back

Drew Litton 9News Cartoon

Post by Kona2 » October 10th, 2009, 1:00 am

One of our local guys, Drew Litton, draws some fun sports cartoons: temperatures for tomorrow's game are to be between 24 and 28 F. Snow should be gone by then.

And by the way, congrats to Kiba on 700K in the challenge thus far -- and Happy Turkey Time Canada style!

Shiver me timbers and pass the hot chocolate! Run for the igloos! Whoa....snow falling in the Rockies and on the Rockies! Good day for rowing! (Aren't they all?!)

No worries if you haven't rowed as much as you'd like in this rowing year - there's still time to crank out the meters! Today is as good a day as any to make a start or a re-start! Get those dust bunnies out of the erg wheel, tighten up those itty bitty screws under the seat (or you will be rockin and rowin), and buckle your seatbelt! Remember to hydrate!!!

Season meters as of 162/365 = 44,121,963 m

Total meters on the day = 637,933 m

Oars in space (participation) = 23 percent

Great Job, Team!
I will be using my 30 min. of rowing time tomorrow around 4 a.m. as a warm-up for running the Spokane Marathon which starts at 7. Wish me luck, as record lows for the day are expected (just like last year, only worse, I suppose, LOL.) I will be surprised if it is above 20 F. at the starting line in the morning. Think warm thoughts for me tomorrow, please.

Wow... that is just crazy!! Looking at a similar temp here Kristine, however we are in degrees Celcius! :)

My day is looking like a casual erg session while watching some of our awesome "V8 Supercar" race around the 6+ kilometre track at Bathurst (1000 km race - 161 laps, 2 drivers per car, and serious altitude and track condition changes from the top of the circuit to the bottom... have a look here for more info...)

Have a good day all, and stay warm Kristine!

Rgds,
Dave
