yes...luckily one of the ladies on a treadmill close by saw what happened and unstrapped me

Oh yes. I remember in the '80s going from rat traps to LOOKs. Very painful learning curve! For a while it was almost safer to roll through red lights than come to a stop.Kona2 wrote:And your feet were probably still strapped in.......I can relate to this! NOW you know why we used Duct Tape while racing. In a boat you don't sit on the drive, there is often air between you and the seat; basically you hang all your weight on your oar.Trouble1 wrote:
Last spring, I was having one of those days when you're going to end up with a pretty good time for a particular distance. Well I needed to scootch up on the seat a little bit. Rather than stop, while pushing back I kind jumped a little bit and the seat went out from underneath me and I came down square on the rail. Needless to same I didn't end up with that great time that day.
oh...i also hit the rail on the way over but fortunately not very hard.....Trouble1 wrote:Toothdoc wrote:Barb,bg wrote:yes..i need a seat belt ...i fell off the erg today.....i sit on towels when i row and will do slight adjustments while rowing...well i loss my balance and fell over today...very embarassing....
I heard confession is good for the soul. So here goes. This week-end while watching the Notre Dame game I tried to avoid a QB sack and nearly fell off the erg. But, that's not all, it happened 2 more on passes into the end zone.
So I guess what I'm trying to say is, you are in some very good company. Kiba, Jan and I, probably more funny stories out there if they would just fess up.

Sorry....was just empathizing with Kona about switching to "clip in" pedals. We used to call regular pedals rat traps. I think because of the "teeth" on the edges. LOOK pedals were my first clip-in pedals, and I fell over many times as I forgot to unclip my shoe before I came to a stop.just27 wrote:" ... rat traps to LOOKS" ... probably some kind of Death Star speak ... So, am I to believe that the advantages of clipping your feet into little tooth-like traps outweigh the problems of having your feet slip off the pedals? I'm just asking because I row with my (bare) feet on, not in, the straps ... and apparently don't generate enough effort to make my feet (or butt!) rise off the erg.Leaky Tiki wrote: ... was just empathizing with Kona about switching to "clip in" pedals. Yes....definetely....Kona2 wrote:The advantage of having either the rat trap or the clip ins would be that you carry forward the energy on the up pedal that you have generated on the down pedal....I think.
