Moleskin

BBB
I was referencing moleskin for blister prevention when walking long distances, or wearing new hiking boots!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moleskin

"Moleskin can be coated with an adhesive backing and used to prevent or treat friction injuries of the feet. In the case of a blister, the moleskin is cut into an "O" shape so the fabric does not adhere to the blister directly; the thickness of the surrounding moleskin protects the blister from further friction."

Oh....I won't jinx myself speaking about blisters....usually I don't have any problem...just need to address anything immediately you feel something...

Oops, I think I just spoke about it... Actually, good walking socks and boots are the way to go, and ensure the socks don't 'bunch' up....

Cheers BBB

Thx, all! That Kona2 is SUCH a merciless taskmaster ... I finished my HM before the movie ended last night and I could clearly hear Jan saying " ... will be finishing her 2 million meters today" ... so I meekly "just rowed" until the credits rolled and I passed the magic number ...

Return to erg

Post by acrewer » August 31st, 2009, 11:10 pm

Well I'm back from our road trip to the SF Bay Area. We had a great time and I showed the kids all the places I rowed, Lexington Resevoir, Berkeley Aquatic Park, Redwood Shores and Lake Merritt. Also visited my alma mater, Santa Clara U, where I bought a baseball cap with Santa Clara Crew on it!

Thanks for the birthday wishes, I did nothing all day...perfect.

Today I got back on the erg - working back up to my usual. The smoke isn't too bad for us, but the fires are really serious, hopefully Mount Wilson Observatory can be protected.

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 8.31.09

Post by Kona2 » September 1st, 2009, 10:37 am

Some look for those bright spots of yellow or orange leaves to signal the beginning of fall.....we look for that edging up of number of meters rowed by the crew in the month....and sure enough, the crew has not been daunted by those hot August nights.....meter totals are on the increase as is crew participation (oars in space). Woohoo! Crew members are checking out the erg hyperdrives (Peter H., in a memorable teaching moment, has already done this for the NLD-based crew) to make sure they are ready for what we are about to throw at them over the next few months! :D

Image

Great rowing month, everyone!

Season meters as of 123/365 = 29,288,320 m

Total meters on the day = 173,356 m

Oars in space = 24 percent

MILESTONES....Bragging Rights....Celebrations:

Image Image William H with 36,000 m rows another half moon
ImageImage Boston Marathoner Barbara rows her 34th half marathon of the year
Image Image Minnie aka just27 rows her 82nd half marathon of the year

FOUR Million Meter Watch:

Wild Bill with (142,000 m) to go! Never know when this guy is going to wildly row 43,000 m...or more....so I'll start the countdown now. :D

ONE Million Meter Watch:

Peter H with (52,322 m) to go!

Jim with (89,825 m) to go!

And thanks to all today's crew for all the kinds of meters:

William H 36,000 m
Barbara 21,195 m
Chris 21,097 m
Darryl 14,776 m (PB?!) For a 60 min row, you are in the top 15 percentile in your age group !
Tim 14,093 m
Peter H 13,036 m
Rick 10,000 m
Jim 7,201 m
Steven 7,156 m
Peter G 7,000 m
Tom R 6,211 m
K2 5,000 m
Terry 4,400 m :D
Gina 3,691 m
Coulter 2,500 m (ramping up the meters nicely!)

No Peanut Butter

Post by DuluthMoose » September 1st, 2009, 11:34 am

Kona2 - No PB this time. I'd have to dig another 270 or so meters out of the well to be close to that. I don't think the stars and planets were aligned up well enough for me to to accomplish that yesterday. Thanks!

Smoke....

Post by Kona2 » September 1st, 2009, 12:31 pm

Whoa....our Colorado blue skies are hazy today....and the smell of smoke is in the air...from the California fires. Seems amazing. Run, Bambi, run.

And Moose, that personal best (PB can indeed stand for peanut butter..) you reference from March puts you in the top ten percent....if not the top ten! Way to row!

Astrogator, does this segue into your Concept2 cheezer snake story?

Too Perfect!

Post by Kona2 » September 2nd, 2009, 8:25 am

Hahahahahaha ha! That BC comic strip is too perfect for my scenario! You see, fellow Luna-Tics, I was a lucky Cheezer participant and won the random drawing for the Concept2 gym bag with all its goodies from the Vermont to Vegas contest. Yesterday the UPS delivery guy left the prize box from Concept2 on the porch...and noticed there was a baby snake....a baby rattlesnake. Fortunately the UPS driver's next delivery was to my neighbor - and he relayed that there was a snake on my porch. Kind neighbor went out and whacked the snake. Hopefully there are not a million other baby snakes lurking in my yard...our neighborhood lost one dog to a snake bite a few weeks ago. Bam, bam, bam to any snakes getting close to my dogs....!
