Well done Anna! (and others). I'm looking forward to your CTC so that you can get our second boat off the dock.

This appears to be a rather unpopular challenge this month.
Thanks! And we are now floating on the water!

I was happy that I kept it at the same pace as my season-best 1k and managed to negative split down all the intervals. I found the middle intervals (400, 300) the hardest due to what felt like a non-existent rest prior to).

Last month my lumbar region squeaked out a question and sciatica replied at some length. So I sat out March. Now got that tendon sheath stiction in second joint of both ring and middle fingers of right hand. Do they call that trigger thumb finger lol? Makes them hesitant to uncurl and then they snap smartly to attention. That don’t seem right. Not particularly painful but will see the orthopedic guy in June. In the meantime not going to do much IR but I think I can mail in a gentle 2.8k with prescribed naps as usual.
Jack - Sorry to hear about the sciatica and the hand issues. Hopefully the orthopedic guy can help you out.

Best wishes - Anna Rae

Good job! And thanks for getting the rest of us off the dock.

Hi Forum Flyers
Introducing myself I am male New Zealand Boomer and a PR1 adaptive rower. I consider myself an active rower both on water and erging. Are there any other adaptive rowers in this team.
Cheers Terry

Hi,

I'm new here. I posted at the women's forum. But there are not many people around there telling me to look here. I'm looking for a team to join.
I'm a 35y old women (hwt) from Germany, mother of two fabulous boys.
I used to row on water for a short time at university ten years ago. After getting my first child and beginning to work I didn't do much sport except for cycling to work. When i was pregnant with my second child we bought a concept2, but didn't use it that much and then sold it again due to space problems in our apartment.
But now years later we decided to try it again. And now, training for 5 weeks rowing 87k i start to get confidence in my strength again. And being at the 25th percentile at the 5k ranked workouts in my age group isn't that bad B). Now i want to train my aerobic fitness to lower my heartrate and getting a stronger back.
I also want to join some challenges. At the moment i'm just challenging my husband .
So, may i join your team?

I'd love to hear from you.

Hi there. I can be the first to say you will be very welcome here. The Flyers have a long and proud histeory of a diverse worldwide membership. The challenges are a great way to provide a focus for training and a good way of benchmarking progress and performance.
I believe we are one of the original virtual clubs from the beginning of the CTC challenges. Just sign up a go for it. There are also Concept 2 challenges three times a year. There is a link here in the thread that explains a lot.

This is from the first post on this thread:
Our membership is an eclectic bunch of young and old, slow and fast and from all corners of the globe. Representation from the United States, Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Canada, Finland, Norway and the Netherlands.
We have all abilities from beginners to World CRASH B hammer winners and numerous British Indoor Rowing Championship medallists. We are all non-elitists, we welcome everybody, and all we ask is participation.

One man's pain is another motivation. We are competitive but we’re always supportive. There are no laws and no rules, it’s all about the bums on seats. Have a look at the challenges, drop us a line, get involved and then jump aboard.

Yeah, I've done it and joined the team at the C2-Homepage (Julia Fritz is my name). I didn't signed up for the CTC yet. Will a third boat start?

It will if enough members row the event. Go for it!

I did it! Was great fun. I aimed for a 2:20 pace, but miraculously felt better B).

hi Terry nice to hear from you too - missed your post yesterday - I'm not aware of any para rowers in the team but it doesn't really matter in the sense that your entries are valued and judged in exactly the same way as everyone else's and have the same impact on participation and filling a boat. I am pretty sure that there isn't a specific para team but there will be rowers in other teams just getting things done. There have been many Kiwis in the Flyers over the years and you will be very welcome to join too.

I've been busy with my running lately but wanted to have a crack at the April CTC.
Unlike bassongirl, I wouldn't say it was great fun  but more like deeply unpleasant. Then again, I went off way too fast on the first 700 and spent the rest of the time suffering for it. I'm used to running intervals with reducing recoveries but the rower brings its own special sort of discomfort when you misjudge the pace. But it always feels good when it's over :D

Terry and I did the challenge tonight which was good to get out of the way before my (second) new knee is fitted next Wednesday. Hoping to get back in time for June which seems likely. Pretty happy with it as I suspect it is about 2k pace so making progress.
Mine @1:58 and Terry was @2:00. MHR was pretty high so close to max too which is good.

Nice pace!

I wish you good luck with your operation!

I couldn't do my workouts last week due to a bad back pain. But fortunatly I'll be back tomorrow. I really missed the rowing last week.

Hello everyone!

I am a 33-year-old man from Helsinki, and I recently joined the Forum Flyers. My main hobby is climbing. I haven't been rowing very actively since I started last year. Hopefully, this year I will find the motivation to row actively and improve, especially on short distances. I also plan to participate in the CTC challenges at some point, once I get my training back on track.
