Brother Jim,
Thanks for staying, do the best you can (as YOU always tell US). You were and are amazing and an inspiration. No, you don't really have to hit 5M by any specific target date, I just thought it was cool that you seemed to be on pace perfectly to hit that.
3 people left the team? That's no reflection on you. For that matter, one of the returning folks told me privately that they came back because they liked your low-pressure approach. Other than Margaret W, who had the class to explain her reasoning for leaving (wish she would've waited for May 1st though), people flit in and out, without any explanation. C'est la vie! (Truthfully, if I thought that upon leaving a team, I'd have to explain to everybody why I left, I would've been hesitant to join one.)
Yet, we always seem to hang around the 9th & 10th place, no matter who leaves and arrives. And I and many others love to catch up on your updates. So, even if you aren't the Official Captain & Record Keeper, please keep posting! (And if you get some wind back in your sails, I'd bet Pat would graciously hand you back the Cap'n Cap [no, not the Cubs hat!!!], without you having to keep track of all the dizzying numbers and birthdays.)
I thought it was wonderful that you, as a multiple stroke victim, put up massive meters. Why? At a certain point, the body adds miles of new veins & capillaries (besides widening the old ones somewhat), which helps dramatically in minimizing any damage from future heart events. Hey, you want to scale back? Feel free! But please keep spending regular time on your rower. (And realize your zeal has been inspiring Bobbie, the grandkids, and the whole family to be more health- and exercise-conscious!)
Now matter what, we still love & admire you!
