A break it is ... just got home at 10:45pm ... even if I started a HM now, I wouldn't be finished "today" ... so I'm calling it a night ... and thanks for all the fish.

Dan's record last season (23 consecutive HM's, I think??) still stands ... this month anyway! Take it away, poker players.
Chris,

Well done. The Dimaggio of ergville.

Weather Report:

AC finally fixed but we are about to float away. 10-15 inches of rain, depending on lcation, since Monday and another 12 predicted by Sat AM. Feels like a Cat 1 hurraine without the wind. I guess that's what they call a tropical storm. DUH!

Kona2 - Alien ships over Duluth! That must be the answer to the crazy weather we've been having! In the past week I've seen snowflakes in the air two days, then on Tues it was 74F (the day I planted tomatos), on Wed it was 42F for the high with a howling wind right off the big lake (tomatos were shivering at 34F that night), and yesterday it was darn near 90F. It might be a powerful alien ship that has Tony....like an Independence Day sized ship!

And you are right about packing for a canoe trip. The pile of gear that has been checked over and ready to go is getting higher. Yesterday I was lashing in the stuff that will ride with the canoe on portages - fishing rods, my thwart bag (equivalent to a canoe glove box to hold all my necessary stuff), map case and compass, baler jug and sponge, spare paddle, my half liter water bottle, my seat cushion, my life jacket, and the bow bag for my wife's point and shoot camera, . That all has to be balanced perfectly fore and aft to be comfortable on my shoulders. And since this is an early season trip and will have to have gear/clothes to cover every kind of weather there will be at least an additional 15lbs in the packs. My canoeing guests are arriving Sunday and we launch our trip early on Tuesday morning. I suspect I won't be rowing after Sunday until I get back next Sat.

Just 27 - Incredible streak of HM's. Way to row Chris!

Plenty of rain on the East Coast of the Great Southern Land…drenched probably best describes parts….good rowing weather! B)

Just27, OARsome, what are they feeding you? So many half-marathons in a row (unintentional pun) – what an effort!

DuluthMoose, enjoy your trip and I look forward to news of it…..hope the trout are biting!

Good weekend to all the lunies……………

Welcome new year round crew member

Post by Kona2 » May 21st, 2009, 9:19 pm

And a hearty Luna-Tic welcome to Kym S! Kym was a member of our 2009 NARC rowing challenge team. We now have 46 in our rowing machine flotilla....and are well on our way to the moon!

And just as a refresher, since jumping into the thread of our team room can be like entering a conversation that is well underway, here are some of the meanings behind our stats:

Milestones are called out at least every 100K - and more often if the crew member tells us that they've hit a lifetime meter amount, or a personal best.

Distance awards (rowed the distance) are called out to because it's a big deal to row a ton of meters....and it doesn't matter that you've done it in bits and pieces....you've still done it. The rowed the distance explanations should cover these okay.

We all wish you good rowing - and hope that you meet some of your personal goals while helping us on the journey to the moon.
