Good morning teammates. We are off to a very, very good start. I just looked and we are already over 200,000 meters. Way to row team. Keep up the great work. I will try and start posting stats Wednesday.

After indulging in a lazy weekend, this morning I kicked off my 2011 season in fine fashion. I put in a 5000m row that was only 8 seconds off my personal best, and I wasn't even going for time! Perhaps the little rest did me some good.

I'm looking forward to my first full season and seeing how many meters I can rack up. I know I'll cross into the million meter club this year, and I hope to set new personal best times in the different distances... not because I care about the times, but because it's a measure of my overall health and technique improvement.

My biggest goal for the 2011 season though, honestly, is to lose 20 pounds. I'll need to execute a little more "*** DELETE - SPAM *** control," but a few extra meters and especially half-marathons would sure help!

Happy 2011 Season, Everyone!

Good luck Karen with this rowing season and the weight loss. I am sure you will drop the pounds and have a super meter season.

My wife Bobbie is having knee replacement surgery on June 8 so I have been rowing some extra meters. This way I can stay in the hospital with her for the planned 3 days. No way I can keep up that pace.

Well, guys, I'll hit the erg tomorrow, after I get off work late. Had a few "glitches" recently. More minor was a lingering laryngitis/bronchIitis/sinusitis (mostly over that). The major one was the flood in Nashville. I was mostly up a hill, and not at risk (except trapped briefly by flooded roads) but houses elsewhere in my subdivision (and numerous other parts of Nashville) were flooded. I stood across the street from a neighbor's house, watching kayakers and canoes in the flooded street, with my feet on the new 500 year flood line! Power, phone, cells, all down. Amazing amount of rain in a couple of days - doubled the previous 2 day record.

Too bad my OTW class for this next weekend was cancelled - although I could have used it earlier.

Glad to hear you are safe Margaret, I've been following the flooding as I have a friend in Franklin. I can't believe this hasn't gotten more news coverage nationally.

Well today we reach the 4 month anniversary of the start of my weight loss journey and the purchase of my Model D. For this month I rowed 168,925 meters giving me a cumulative total over those 4 months of 655,773 meters.

For the month I managed to lose 5.0 kgs which is now a total loss of 21.1 kgs for the 4 months. I've reached my first weight loss goal of being 200 lbs by May 1st for our first race. I'm not sure of my next weight loss goal at this point as I've never been much lighter than 195 in my adult life so not sure how light I want to get, right now I've set 180 lbs as a target to reach and then reassess.

Time to put in meters is going to be harder to come by over the next 4-5 months while racing Motocross as I'll be spending more of my spare time at the track practicing and then each weekend we are gone from Friday night until Sunday night.

Sorry Team, I haven't had my oars in the water much this spring, due to among other reasons, the passing of a Great father-in-Law. Thanks Jim, for taking over for Pat. She was a Wonderful Captain and will be missed.
