Good work Wilbury ...tried for 50K (for the day) the other day, but at 43K the body said go and have a sleep, followed by a couple beers, big steak washed down with a red wine (or two.... ) ....and I always listen to my body!

GOOD WORK TO ALL!

There must be some mental telepathy going on here. I didn't read the most recent series of posts until I just logged in today's meters. It seems that somehow I knew I was supposed to push a little harder today. I have been putting in between 7 and 10k the past few weeks. I decided to shoot for a half marathon today, so I guess I upped the anti for myself. Hopefully I won't be too tired tomorrow to get my minimum of 5k in to keep me on the straight and narrow for March Madness.

By the way, I did my half-moon today while watching Star Wars V, so it was an intergallactic half-moon.

Thanks for all the inspiration Loonies!

Karyn

PS(Keep it up Gina! You're awesome and almost there.
Wow Wilbury! 50k -- That's amazing

That's a very important skill. I'm working on that now. A few good ale's and some wine. The end result is total relaxation, ad satisfaction.

I have to deploy again in June, and I want to be in top shape. William and Dan are among the many LUNA'S that really push me. Maybe more so than the physical, the mental aspect of fitness (rowing) is what keeps me going.

We are rocketing to the moon, now! We are surrounded by half moons and now we have a whole 'nother animal....the fifty k....I must confess to being at a loss for a label. I mean, we have half moons and full moons....what shall we call this new beast??? Let's hear some suggestions!

HI Kona2

I’d call it pretty good! Not sure what the technical term would be though!!

Now someone tell me; what do you Americans feed them in Northern Texas; is it the beer they drink or something in the water?

Good luck, Baz

I spent the day in San Diego seeing a new client and visiting my dad. We didn't get back to LA until 10 pm, so too late for me to row. I'm going to try to complete the 10K tomorrow. Mostly it's a matter of allowing myself enough time. Darn clients want their taxes done!

Wilbury - Congrats on the RED GIANT, that is awesome. When my bu!! is sore and I feel like quitting, I'll think of the guy who not only went 5 x's as far as I'm attempting, he's litterally fighting for me. THANKS from a grateful citizen.

Hey you got half way there... still a great effort! (BTW, you never have to worry about painting ceilings - my father always said it was rude to look up in someone else's house... I've been avoiding it for the last 5 years at least at our place!  )

Sure, you know Sydney is such a small place - I was just clearing the Kangaroos out of the front yard last weekend when who should jog past but Bazza (no doubt on his way to Angelo's to chuck another shrimp on the barbie...)!

SEVEN Million Meter Man

Post by Kona2 » March 23rd, 2009, 10:01 am

Congratulations, Will S on attaining your SEVEN million meter man status! You are now ranked number 13 in the rowing universe for total meters on the 2009 rowing year.

And congratulations, also, on delivering this achievement with the completion of the first ever Luna-Tic Red Giant 50K, so aptly named by just27 Chris.
Image

Red Giant is such a fitting name for a Luna-Tic distance milestone:

A little Wikipedia research revealed that we have several prominent red giants in our night sky: Aldebaran (Alpha Tauri), Arcturus (Alpha Bootis), and Gamma Crucis.

Aldebaran (sounds like something out of Star Wars) is the brightest star in the constellation Taurus....and it's located at the head of Taurus, so it has historically been called the Bull's Eye. This star is also identified in Hindu astronomy as the lunar mansion.

Arcturus - third brightest in the night sky, it's in the constellation Bootes (I do believe they are referring to foot, but one has to consider the sore booties from rowing).

And finally, Gamma Crucis is a red giant star in the constellation Crux (the Southern Cross), which is only visible in the southern hemisphere - thus providing our southern hemisphere team mates good representation in this mileage acknowledgment as well!

Shine on!
