And just like that our month in the sun is almost over. Happy with the 5000m choice - need to be forced to do the ranking distances now and again!

Yeah, looking forward to your super-strong result! I hope it gets cool enough to go for a new PB here in Austria.

Going faster than my PB will definitely be very hard, not sure I am able to right now. I think I should be able to just break 17 on a good day with some deep diggingjackarabit wrote: ↑August 26th, 2020, 11:06 amFaster than 16’44?MartinSH4321 wrote: ↑August 25th, 2020, 9:38 amYeah, looking forward to your super-strong result! I'm sure Jo Andre will get a super-strong result, even if not a PB. I'm not going to challenge him at 5k, sub18 is good (and hard) enough for mejackarabit wrote: ↑August 26th, 2020, 11:06 amFaster than 16’44?MartinSH4321 wrote: ↑August 25th, 2020, 9:38 amYeah, looking forward to your super-strong result! Y’all are talking some impressive (intimidating) numbers. I think I need to watch from the bank, but I’ll be cheering the team on, for sure.

M@rdix - a steady 5k is a good training piece and any number is impressive around here - learned a long time ago that there is always someone faster so no need to be intimidated - these young guys are super strong and no point in comparing so best to get in a boat and just do what you can do - floating boats and participation is the name of the game.
(there will be some sub16' next month I am sure)

Thanks for that, lindsayh, that’s encouraging. It will definitely push me to improve. I just registered at the site and will see how things go.lindsayh wrote: ↑August 27th, 2020, 8:36 amM@rdix - a steady 5k is a good training piece and any number is impressive around here - learned a long time ago that there is always someone faster so no need to be intimidated - these young guys are super strong and no point in comparing so best to get in a boat and just do what you can do - floating boats and participation is the name of the game.

Re: Forum Flyers
Well done, Jack!
I had forgotten about the challenge, and did enough time on the BikeErg this month, but got my timing wrong in week 2. Oh well - I'll pay more attention for next month's challenge.
Looks like we still need a lady and a lightweight to get Boat 5 off the dock. Hopefully still a chance to get a late entry over the weekend.

Re: Forum Flyers
Thanx for the tickle, Dave. Obviously doesn’t present much of a hurdle to those on a high volume, 4-6 day per week training or fitness schedule! I have backed off everyday (or every week) rowing the past couple years which means my monthly meters often fall short of the 100k total for DawgDays. This year I started on Pete Beginner on 3 July, a schedule of minimum 3 WO per week which allows liberal number of rest days but offers option to increase active days to 4 or 5.
Great for staying on course without makeup or binge rowing. I did the challenge in 13 active days averaging 7700m per day so only needed one optional day from the BPP. A low intensity , HR capped execution on one or both long steady days is also useful to minimise accumulated fatigue. I used 130bpm which enforces low UT2 average pace in my case. Obviously, the first week offers a 3:4 ratio active to rest days. In the final week, 4:3 or 5:2 may be needed. Very doable for beginners and greybeards!

Re: Forum Flyers
Hello everyone,
I apologize in advance, because I’m about to ask a couple of questions I’m sure have been asked a million times, but I can’t seem to find answers searching or reading past threads. I’ve lately gotten interested in having a little more of a competitive side to my workouts, and the cross team challenge has caught my eye. So I’ve tried learning about joining a team to be able to participate.
So here’s what likely are everyone’s least favorite questions: May I simply join the Forum Flyers, or do I need an invitation? And how do I sign up?
Thanks!
