And just as a safety announcement, we're seeing more and more kids on electric scooters in this area...and they're on neighborhood streets - especially those with some really tempting hills where you can zooooom along. Since evenings are still mild, kids are out in twilight time and they are going at high speed. Those scooters do not always have lights on them, and smaller "vehicles" may not be what you're watching for since we all tend to focus more on what we think could endanger us vs looking at the bigger picture of all road users. If you have a young person in your world who is riding an electric scooter, or a bike, please please please get them a flashing light or a headlight that can fit onto their scooter handlebars. It may well make the difference for them and the motorists that they interface with on the roads. These devices are easily rechargeable and not expensive. And, while we might call a bike or a scooter a low speed conveyance (seriously - this is how language does NOT help us), they are required to have reflectors, lights, etc., for visibility at twilight. We all believed we were bulletproof and invincible once.
Re: Team Progress Thru 9.22.22
I see a lot of kids (and adults) riding on the roads without helmets or lights. I've been tempted to buy a box full of cheap blinkies and give them out to those who don't have them ... but then I realized stopping random kids/people on the streets might land me on the 'suspicious list' of our local police department :/Kona2 wrote: ↑September 23rd, 2022, 9:06 am

Helmets - most kids won't wear the ones they have, and we have to ask our adult selves how well we model the behavior!Rodb wrote: ↑September 23rd, 2022, 6:01 pm

Lights - good thoughts, Rod! If there is a local cycling club or advocacy group, perhaps you could ask what they are doing. Safe Routes to School often gives local groups grants, and it's possible to have a group like that do the community outreach!

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
I took Friday off as a rest day, then did a 70 mile Tour de Donuts on Saturday. Sunday, I discovered that my best little friend in the world slept up against my back and caused the muscles in it to seize up. If this is what 42 is like, boy howdy, life is going to get rough in the coming years!
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Tour de Donuts is a marvelous thing to do on a weekend....LaMar's, Krispy Kreme, Dunkin Donuts...since it appears that there are MANY different Tour de Donuts...do tell us about this one, Zach!TallErgs wrote: ↑September 26th, 2022, 11:36 amI took Friday off as a rest day, then did a 70 mile Tour de Donuts on Saturday. And, sorry, but getting older is more work after you reach a certain tipping point....so perhaps you're just on a steep incline instead of a steep decline!

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
OK loonies... i have a question
Ever since ergdata released their new version (which i love btw.. just wish it wasnt so.... boring looking? a dark mode would spice it up.. or hell let us customize the colors!) i have a problem
I connect row upload everythings fine... The problem comes when the next erg session arrives... You try to sync... And the freaking app will just not find the pm5....
I've tried force stopping ergdata in settings, restart the connection on the pm5, use the proximity feature... phone vibrates.. just wont connect
sometimes it'll randomly detect the erg again...
But most times I have to reboot my phone... Its super irritating.. I have updated pm5 firmware since the new ergdata came out, but i DO think another version has come since.
Has anyone else encountered this issue and discover a fix? In the event that I have another pm5 update ill do that tonight, but in case that doesn't resolve the issue - tips?
In case it matters running ergdata on a samsung s22 ultra

We did a loop that hit three apple orchards in the area, each making their own apple cider donuts. They were pretty good! Nothing like having 4 donuts and then going back out on road.Kona2 wrote: ↑September 26th, 2022, 4:41 pmTour de Donuts is a marvelous thing to do on a weekend....LaMar's, Krispy Kreme, Dunkin Donuts...since it appears that there are MANY different Tour de Donuts...do tell us about this one, Zach!TallErgs wrote: ↑September 26th, 2022, 11:36 amI took Friday off as a rest day, then did a 70 mile Tour de Donuts on Saturday. ErgData iOS here... I've noticed the PM5 needs to be in the menu section for it to show up in the app. If the PM5 is in any of the rowing modes, the app won't "see" it.sycomosh wrote: ↑September 26th, 2022, 7:57 pmOK loonies... i have a question

Guessing that is to prevent hijacking a nearby monitor that's in use by someone else, as in a gym or boathouse.
The above probably isn't your issue, but so far it's the only thing that has prevented my app from finding the monitor.
I'm not on the latest PM5 firmware. I keep getting the reminder to update, but I haven't been able to find the cable.
Speaking of... why doesn't a cable come with the purchase of a new rower? Kinda seems like a fundamental component. I took my 2005 model D (w/PM5) to work and bought a new RowErg last month, for home.
Adding the feature in ErgData to select different colour schemes, especially a dark mode, is a stellar idea.
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Nah when I try to connect its either on the main menu, or the connect screen. Turned auto connect on and its working FOR NOW but we'll see. I didn't have the issue until i updated the pm5 post new erg data.starbuck907 wrote: ↑September 27th, 2022, 2:44 pmErgData iOS here... As for the cable, yeah they should definitely include one - especially since transferring firmware via flash drive was impossible and apparently you need a very specific and antiquated flash drive so... the cable really is the easiest solution. Maybe they assume everyone has one? I had one, but i have all sorts of cables n crap all over the place. But i'm sure most do not so if you want people to update their firmware - give them the freaking cable! lol
But yeah I would love the ability to at least customize the colors on ergdata. I dont see that as being too terribly difficult but who knows how they did things. A dark mode would be good enough, and really its just being nitpicky and not that important but... Man it look so... I dunno... meh lmao
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
My recent experience with updating firmware: It is a little tricky, but very possible, to update firmware with a flash drive. It does cost you a brand new set of D batteries, because you have to have greater than 85 percent battery life to do it. (This was something I learned from the Concept2 people.) You have to be ready to start the upload as soon as you plug in the drive - because that was the only time it was reading the drive. Once you've got the yellow go light, it is a very quick process. But you will have donated to the swear jar already by then.
Thanks Benjamin and Lola for bringing up some answers - I would bet that many teammates have had similar questions. We learn through the stories we tell !
