Many of us use erging as a training for other events - and to stay fit enough to participate in a multitude of activities! Zach mentioned training for RAGBRAI, an organized multi-day cycling ride that crosses the state of Iowa. RAGBRAI (Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa) is the granddaddy of all the rides - and is in its 49th year. This year looks to be another exciting opportunity for a rolling community party! The Iowa Bicycle Coalition puts together a Ride Right safety guide - and this led me to their website (that's how bunny trails of the mind go!). I particularly liked the legislation that they are working on: Change lanes to pass bicyclists! Here in Colorado, as in more than 30 other states, we have a 3 feet to pass requirement. We are slowly getting signage installed that gives the message of 3 Feet to Pass. Perhaps next year we, too, can push for Change Lanes To Pass Bicycles! In the meantime, look out for each other no matter what your means of transportation!

Out for a longer walk at Barr Lake State Park - home to a few pairs of year round eagles, and a driftwood sculpture that I thought was pretty cool. Only saw one eagle yesterday. Not much open water as the lake is still pretty frozen, but there are some places that are open!

My favorite quote out of this piece was something to the effect of "it was the nursing home or get better." Amen to that.

Whoooosh! That's the sound of ANOTHER month flying by....and your erg has been busy too!

Hooboy! Here we are at the penultimate month of the 2022 Erging Season, which ends 30 April. So many things going on that it seems inevitable that we'd feel like we'd hit the time accelerator! Kind of like those long ago little flip the pages books that you'd find in a box of Cracker Jacks (have no idea whether they actually put anything in a box of Cracker Jack's these days...probably some rule against potential ingestibles!).

Somehow, though, you're going to find time and a way to fit the March Mudness Challenge into your calendar, because like the Cracker Jack boxes - you might just win a prize in the random drawings of those who have completed either the 5K or the 10K amounts for the day prior. And, with the smaller population density of the 10K, NATURALLY your chances will be better with the 10K pool. Jump in, Lunies, jump in! Gather ye shamrocks (5K) and pots of gold (10K). We love March!

Maybe Punxsutawney Phil should listen to the skunks about Spring?! Turned on the outside light prior to releasing the hounds, and surprised a small Pepe le Pew...and that Pepe released a kraken of a stink bomb, fully stinkifying the air. Had to get that little rascal out of the yard so I could release said hounds, who promptly raced along the fenceline. A short hour later, a rare daylight sighting of two adult skunks frolicking behind the fence...spring, with all its snows followed by 70 F days, is here in Colorado.

Meanwhile, back at the Shamrock, the Lunies collectively are off to a slower start on this Challenge! Save some of the six free passes for later!
