Welcome, and thanks to Jack for putting out the mat first :).

Any background info would be helpful for the team to get to know you better - as much as you're willing to share (name, rough age, where you are, etc.).

Checking in. Things are still not good. It *might* be possible for me to do CTC, but only if I can feel pain free enough. I've rowed ONCE since I last logged in here. Very, VERY slowly but I managed 10 minutes with no pain or repercussion. Enjoyed it! However, it was so slow that it didn't raise my heartbeat by more than a few bpm.

I'm having more pain in my lower legs now which is not good. Some ankle pain, calf pain, pain in the back of my legs and things just feel *off*. Especially when sleeping. The big Covid shopping trips are still doing me in and I'm doing them less often thanks to the produce box delivery. Another Walmart run yesterday, and this morning, shooting pains in my left leg down to my toe, the worst yet!

I see my doctor tomorrow, it's time to talk about the spinal steroid injections. I don't like the idea, but if it could calm the nerves ANY, I have to try it. It's a big worry though, hubby is high risk, we have to travel out of our little 5-9 cases Covid bubble into an area with MANY cases to even get the injections.

I don't see how I can eat better, I signed us up for a weekly produce box and we are eating it. I eat fish a LOT! I eat my veggies, I only occasionally eat grain, I've been drinking a ton of turmeric tea, taking black seed oil, I've recently added turmeric capsules, which, I think help a little, but I'm out of ideas on how to fight the nerve inflammation.

IF I can feel OK enough to try the CTC at my snail pace, I need to know how to set up the PM5 for June CTC. Because I might only get one shot to try if any.

Weight stalled in May. I had a lot of trouble with overeating. Bought too many 100 calorie nut packages (trying to keep shopping trips fewer) and having them in the house, I went overboard. I did hit a new low in June of 194 pounds, but have been bouncing about just above it since. Feel like I'm back in control though, now that the snack packs of nuts are gone.

Many thanks! I'm going to copy and paste that into Google Keep so I can access it from the tablet I run ErgData on, if things go better, I think I can do it time-wise, but my pace won't be anything to brag on. I'll float one if I'm able!

Thanks, all! Name is Jennifer, I'm 44F LT class, from Chicago. Principally did stepmill and treadmill for my cardio pre-shelter in place at the gym. We decided to build out a small home gym, and the C2 has been a perfect fit! I didn't know much about rowing before we got it, but have been getting into following all the metrics (S/m, etc.) I principally train by heart rate, but I appreciate the extra measures to focus on! :)

I look forward to getting to know all of you better too!

Thanks Jennifer. You'll be extra useful on the Cross Team Challenge then, where we always seem to run out of females and lightweights to help float the boats (we have an excess of heavy males at the moment :)).

There's a wealth of knowledge in this team, and generally across the forum, so send through any questions you have, and you'll get some decent answers.

hi Jennifer that is great and welcome indeed.
There is a new rowers thread at the top of the training sub forum above here that has a huge amount of useful information.

Keep at it Cynthia. Try, try again, and try something else until something works.

I've found that self-discipline is more effective at the store than at home. If I don't have 'bad' foods around the house I can't eat them, and I'm usually not motivated enough to go out and get them to fulfill an instant gratification. So I try extra hard at the grocery store to not buy them.

Good luck with the CTC if you give it a go. Be careful. Any score will help the team. No need to set yourself back again by going too hard too soon. Progressive resistance.

Hi All,
I'm new here and new to indoor rowing having got my C2 in May.

A bit about me: I'm from Essex UK, Age 44, 180cm, 100kg. I used to be a competitive amateur cyclist (time trialling and road racing) but have become very out of shape over the last few years due to laziness, lack of motivation and too much eating! Rowing seems to have sparked my motivation to get fit and lose some weight and I'll probably combine with my cycling.

I've been lurking the forum for a few weeks and decided to take up the invitation to join the FF team for affiliation and challenges. I have just done the June CTC challenge and will hopefully register my distance once I get my password sorted.

I look forward to being part of the group!

Thanks
Dan
