... so, is "second from the bow" referring to the way y'all are facing, or the way the boat is moving? (Better yet, are you arms bare or arms shirted?)

OOPS! I sometimes forget not all ergers are rowers. I'll go back to the basics just in case anyone isn't sure. The bow is the front of the boat and the direction the racing shell is moving in. The stern is the back of the boat. We sit backwards in the boat, so we all face the stern. I am the second person you can see from the left which is the bow, so yes, I have bare arms. If you look closely, there is a head popping up in the bow of the boat. You can see her hat above the my blade That is our coxswain. She steers the boat, calls commands, and motivates us to pull our hardest. So, technically I'm really the third person from bow, but the second rower. You start counting seats from the bow, so I rowed 2 seat in this race.

PS(I saw the question and answered before reading on and realized the question was already answered by others. Oh well! Here's the info again.)

I completely missed the cox! I've only rowed with a cox in the stern, but you all look really great. One day I'll get out on the water again.

Where's the cox: It was definitely like "can you find Waldo?!"

My next personal challenge, and possible "Impossible Dream," is to gasp my way to 4 mill this season before being run over by The William H Express ... not much of a rumble, I'm afraid!

27,
Find the yellow triangular marker buoy on the left side of the picture. Go straight down to the white / blue oar blade (Karyn's oar). Now at the upper edge of that oar blade is a hat almost level with the deck and to the left is are some hands. Talk about a laid back job that cox has! Oh and keep fighting off those windmills 27, it's important to have a goal(s) going into this 45 days of madness.

Kona2 - I canoed Alexander Spring Run, Juniper Spring Run, Silver River, Owl Creek, and the Blackwater River while in Florida. 10 days in Florida - 5 days on 5 different rivers. We had planned to canoe some in the Blue Springs - St John's River area but it was closed to boating. And we also checked the Sopchoppy, but that was too low. So it was a good break from winter, and good fix for a canoe addict, and I'm sure I can make it through until spring now. Plus I now have almost 5 hours of canoeing video to watch while rowing from my little Flip camera.... Cool!

SIGNING UP FOR Team Challenge: World Rowing Challenge

Post by Kona2 » February 26th, 2009, 1:22 pm

How to sign up to participate as a Luna-Tic in the World Rowing Challenge:

Sign in to your logbook
Find the Teams heading - directly to the right of logbook (the headings go: logbook .... rankings.....history....challenges.....ranked workouts....profiles....teams.....logout)
Click on Teams
Second box down will say Team Challenges (and Kristine....it says we aren't signed up!)
Click on underlined link that says you will participate in this challenge
And that's it!

PS - We don't have to sign up for the March Madness Challenge as that is an individual challenge of rowing 5,000 m for at least 25 of the days in March....or 10,000 m (plus) if you are like many on this team!

FOUR million meters... I can't even imagine. You are inspiring me as I try to avoid being passed by Karyn, Kristine & Jan ... who are all on my stern as I aim for the ONE million meter mark!

It left Veracruz (MX) port on February 15th and is due to arrive Rotterdam (NL) on March 3rd.. Just in time to register her 9MM birthday trip....
