Rats. The SpaceX launch was scrubbed yesterday due to weather issues - a retry hopefully on Saturday. We don't often get an extensive look behind the scenes of NASA - and it truly brings out the inner nerd. So MANY things to be interested in in this world! Must say that Elon Musk has added some style to the rockets and the spacesuits. SATURDAY AFTERNOON ...3:22 PM ET

Funny you should say that ... I did that row completely off the cuff. I did a light 1k warm up, felt racey and just went for it. I struggled a bit between 3500 and 4000 meters - Carol stepped off the BikeErg and told me to suck it up, stop being a baby and set a PR.

She's tiny, but fierce.

Who's ready for more pain? https://log.concept2.com/challenges/heptathlon
Paine is my last name!!

I am leaving town tomorrow for a week at the beach with family. Now I am packing the ERG on the trip so I can participate in the Heptathlon!! My wife says I'm sick  but there are worse things to obsess over!!

So, let's talk planning and strategy. This will be grueling for the last couple days. Maybe start off with the 10k then alternate some of the shorter events? 7 days in a row with all out effort is going to be a challenge for sure!!

And I was thinking it would be a relaxing week, cold beverage, under the umbrella on the beach. B)

C2 knows how to throw the curve ball!

Definitely planning to do the 10K first. Then maybe do 2 of the short rows on the same day, to build in a rest day. We'll see; but I am starting to enjoy these new C2 challenges. Luna-Tics, start your engines (again)!
Slow and Steady is my pace, so it seems,

Congratulations Zach on a great PB, that's a MASSIVE improvement! And if you are in the top 90% in your age range now, by next year you will be even higher!

Thanks also for alerting me to the Heptathlon, I was wondering what I was going to do come Monday for a little motivation. It gets a bit quiet on the forum in between challenges...

Over the last three weeks I've been taking part in a different type of challenge, pushups to raise awareness for mental health https://www.thepushupchallenge.com.au/pushuperer/65792. Each day the number of pushups required is based on a statistic related to mental health issues. When I signed up, I could not quite manage 5 push-ups with good form. By the time it started, I was able to do sets of 10, sometimes 15. Yesterday, I managed to do the last 45 in one go! I did not quite get down to the floor for some of them, so I did an extra twenty really good ones afterward to salve my concience :). Tomorrow is the last day, my stretch goal is to do it in just 2 sets.

Wow. What a monumental achievement ! I can't fathom doing that many in a single day, for that period of time. Do you have any shoulder/elbow pain from the pushups, or are you just a machine at this point? Congratulations on completing your goal! (preemptive congratulations, I know you'll get it)

Ha! I'm going to have to document some of my image workarounds ...

Meanwhile, I would have missed the heptathlon challenge without the eagle eyes of some of our Lunies. I guess everyone has had time to recuperate from the first batch of speed tests and is ready for another! Taking your erg to the beach...I do hope there will be a photo of it sitting in the sand! And what a testament to the portability of the C2 equipment!

Concept2 Heptathlon Challenge

June 1–7

Kick off June by taking part in our special Heptathlon challenge. To take part, you need to complete all seven events inside a week. You can do so on either the RowErg, SkiErg or BikeErg, but you must complete all the events on the same type of machine. You can do the events in any order as long as you finish by June 7. Good luck!

The Events
RowErg and SkiErg BikeErg
Event #1 1000 meters* 2000 meters
Event #2 1 minute* 1 minute*
Event #3 10,000 meters* 20,000 meters
Event #4 20 minutes 20 minutes
Event #5 1609 meters (1 mile) 4000 meters*
Event #6 10 minutes 10 minutes
Event #7 6000 meters* 10,000 meters
*These events are also rankable. To learn more about ranking a workout see log.concept2.com/help

This seems like a good time to remind everyone of the nonathlon: this is for indoor rowing machines and consists of distances or times as follows: 500 m, 1 K, 2K, 5K, 6K, 10K, 30 min, 60 min, half marathon and full marathon. I see that at least one Lunie is already on the nonathlon roster!

COVID 19 has made me a stranger to the YMCA where I erged and to this site. Even though the "Y" is again open I don't feel safe returning. Half the fun of erging was the social interaction I enjoyed. I'm seriously considering purchasing a Model D as I don't see the "Y" as being an option for a long time. Was wondering how many here owned their machines...
