Congrats to all that hit milestones and especially to those who hit for first time. It’s a great feeling to accomplish something you weren’t sure was possible. Makes you wonder what else you might be able to do.

Do tell us about the conversation that led to Sorin also doing a half marathon...
No conversation... You cannot talk anybody into doing an HM, it wouldn't be fair... Maybe just a good example... ;)
I think he got the bug when he was convinced to help with the 4min TT, when Discovery needed to be filled in. Then 2k happened, then 21k... :).

Image Another episode....

Last week's request to list the avatar name associated with Lunie teammates led me to think about the difference (if any) between avatars and alter egos. In most cases, our Lunie avatars are just names and not graphics. But there are a few exceptions:
Image Minnie aka Chris aka just27

Image Shaun aka Norma

Image Gary

I know I prefer to go by K2 or Kona2 on the forum; my avatar has become my alter ego or at least my nickname. I shared a special bond with my Golden Retriever Kona, who was only two at the time the Concept2 forum first popped up. Some of the other avatars, or special graphics, have evolved in different ways for Lunies.

Usually think of virtual worlds as being associated with online gaming worlds - worlds that have been noted to be very addictive mediums, designed to constantly urge the player to complete the next quest or Challenge....wait...that sounds a lot like Concept2's Challenges...

Here are the Lunies with associated avatars.

A J Tudury .......Duckmarx
Andrea Cosmin ...... andreacs
Andrew Stewart..... Shabana
Barbara Grandberg..... bg (not signed in yet this year, but she'll be around)
Barry O'Malley..... BAZzy
Brett McCrory..... BigBrett58 or B58
Chris Tudury .... just27 Minnie
Corey Anglemyer ..... canglem
Dan Wickwar ..... danwho
David A. Alden ..... DavidA
Doug Gauger ..... dag1
Ed Church .....Edscapade
Eric Johnson ..... SweatSlide
Gary Weaver ..... Weave
Heather Kennedy ..... Jollywandering
Jan Klein Klouwenberg..... Jantuut
Jan Stevenson ..... Kona2 or K2
Jodi Nelson ..... Jodi
Ken Paine..... kpaine
Maria Lane-Gomez ..... MariaLG
Miles Orchard..... warnie
Norma Delaney ..... normadelaney Shaun
Richard Miller..... Gyrodon
Thomas Rafter ..... Tombeur
Zach Dykstra ..... TallErgs

Wanted to hit that mark with a 5k PR, but I chickened out with 1km to go when my left glute started to hurt ... I get really gun shy about a second debilitating cramp.

Yes, I am a percipient witness, as shown by my birth certificate, and on that basis I testify as follows: OLD AGE STINKS. The later years are not golden; they are more like lead. That said, « Never give in, » to borrow a phrase from Sir Winston Churchill.

Knowing that not all of you have access to the comics pages of your local newspaper - whaaat? you don't get your local newspaper? Do ask yours to carry Pearls Before Swine. A new character has been introduced to answer all of life's tough questions! Although "the Hill" looks somewhat like a dung heap...

Speaking of heaps, we have a heap's worth of milestones today! Good work, Lunies!

If yesterday was leg day due to hard rowing and bike efforts, what does that make today when I'm doing squats? Double Leg Day? Or Damn it! Leg day!
