Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Happy to hear your good news, Andrew!! And best of luck going for that 7 min 2K. I never made it to 7. My best was 7:21. I was a little disappointed with my 4 min (not enough to do it again), which now makes me wonder if I can make it to 8 for the 2K. We'll see. I'm one of those people who always did much better at longer distances than sprints. If I extrapolate down from my 30 min, I could do well on the 2K. If I extrapolate up from my 4 min, not so good. This leads me to wonder if there is a quantum state version of Paul's Law where I can actually row 2 paces at once.

Andrew, really happy to hear it wasn't COVID-19. Still, you had/have a nasty cough, so take care of yourself. Rest up--coughing doesn't mix well with racing.

I knew we’d move into the realm of physics ...Paul’s Law was/is a good find...Andrew’s negative test is a good positive for the day..danwho wrote: ↑April 30th, 2020, 10:15 amHappy to hear your good news, Andrew!! Woo hoo! When I started in mid-July, I never imagined I could make it to an seasonal average of 5,000 meters a day. I made it to the 5000+ Daily Honor Board this week! Now to decide goals for the new season...

Did you say that you “took up rowing at 70”? I bow before you oh mighty row master!Tombeur wrote: ↑April 26th, 2020, 11:36 amJodi, I am very happy to hear of your recovery from CV19, though saddened to learn that you contacted this vicious disease in the first place. Your advice to listen to your body and limit yourself accordingly is spot on—always, but especially now as we learn more about the varied threats to our wellbeing from CV19. It is not easy for some of us who spent our lives in a competitive profession. As someone working to recover some of my former pacing and distances following several assaults on my health, I have to discipline myself to put out of my mind what I could do when I took up rowing as a young man of 70. Eight more orbits around the sun have taken their toll. Inescapably, we are well advised to play individually the hands we are dealt. Doing that is more than a necessity: it is both pleasurable and intellectually satisfying.
I just need 11 more years to get to your starting point. Do you think my Concept2 rower can hold up for another 10+ years?
I’ll get another 4 minute row in tomorrow before the season ends here in NY. It’s been educational to say the least

Take care and good luck on your goals...Cheers, BazShabana wrote: ↑April 30th, 2020, 6:13 amI like to thank (in no particular order) Tombeur, Norma, Jodi, Zach, Andrea, Ken and K2 (and anyone I missed), and the rest of you Looneys for the support and good wishes, it really has made me feel supported .
I am still coughing, but my test result is in, and it is not COVID. I am relieved, but I was never too concerned. Here in Australia we are fortunate, the impact of the virus on health is well under control, I believe we have only 100 hospital beds across the country currently occupied by COVID patients, so there is more than enough capacity for now. The economic impact of isolation is a different matter, though, my children worked in hospitality and retail and events, and have lost their jobs... The government is helping out in the short term, but I do worry about their future.
On the positive side, it does leave a lot more time for rowing .
Looking forwards to a great new season, but not so much the 2K. Paul's law predicts that I should smash the 7 minute barrier, but that was the pace that I did the 4 minutes at, and I did not have another 3 mins left in me! We shall see.
Good luck to everyone, may you all achieve your goals!

Thanks Baz for posting this!BAZzy wrote: ↑April 29th, 2020, 9:50 pmFor those with an interest in specific training programs I recommend having a read of the C2 Training guide, and in particular Section 5.9 on the 2,000 metre inter-active training plan.
A kayaking coach gave me a couple of pieces of advice many (too many) years ago. First and foremost, most training plans work, some better than others, you just need to be consistent in applying yourself and sticking to it. The other was simply, if you want to go fast, you have to train fast; the progressiveness of this program will certainly help to improve times.

Good luck out there…! Cheers, Baz
I hope that this progressive plan plan will help in overall health and speed improvement...
Once we do the 2k, will have a good baseline to start, once I figure out all those codes (UT1, UT2, etc.) properly .
Then will "just" have to stick to it...
Re: He's A Meter Multi-Millionaire !! AGAIN !!
Congratulations Dan, on achieving a 3Mm season!!!
Congratulations Keith, on achieving a 1Mm season!!!
Glad to hear that things are OK health-wise with Andrew and I hope that all other things fall in place eventually, everywhere!
I just did another 4min TT and improved a totally puny 1m and 0.1s pace... I gave up 1-2 strokes before finish time .
I think that I might improve more if I up the drag factor, but that's for Saturday or Sunday to try.
Row wisely and stay healthy!

Nope, that's not right. Boy am I out of it. One day merges into the other anymore! As all of you probably already knew I did not have one more day to get a row in for the season. I realized that when I got up this morning and realized that it's 1 May, and the start of the new rowing season.

Welcome to the 2020/2021 Season!
We're not quite halfway to the moon as the season begins. Our end of year meters were 144,439,784 m. This, combined with the leftover meters we had from 2019 after our lunar landing (you may recall we used the lunar rover to check out a few sites on the moon), gives us a total of 160,314,218 m towards the moon. Our target total distance is 384,000,000 m. So. Doubtful that we will get to the moon in 2021 season, but surely very close.
As always, we welcome all teammates, and look forward to seeing your name on the roster. We're currently in 17th place with 15 teammates on the roster. It's always such a shock to look at the logbook on day one, particularly after you posted seven digits worth of numbers the day before, and see a big fat goose egg. Well. We can all do something about that - and make rapid strides.
The global marathon series is now in play. And so is the nonathlon. Say what? Nonathlon. I didn't mention this one last season because by the time I thought of it, we were well into the Spring Series...thus towards the end of the season. Previously (it was 2017), one of our teammates had been competing in this all season, mentioned it to us, and we all promptly knocked him down a few rungs by jumping onboard. The beginning of the season, though, is fair game. To compete in the nonathlon, a Concept2 type of thing, you have to post your times for various events. You're competing with others in the rowing universe.
Here's the link. Read all about it. https://www.nonathlon.com/about.php
Still need rowers...
