LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 4.24.2020
days remaining in the 2020 season!
Yes, on the stroke of midnight on 30 April, ALL your tens of thousands and millions of meters will vanish into the galactic matrix...and we will start replenishing our meter piggy banks all over again. I'll give an update at that time for where we are in our current (5th) lunar journey. Meanwhile, you are all stockpiling personal victories and milestones. The last two months of stay at home, or mostly at home, has clearly impacted how many meters many can do depending upon whether the teammate has a personal erg(s). The Spring Series has provided MANY opportunities for personal bests, and we've learned quite a bit about the competitive spirit of this team!
Great to hear about, and see video clips about what teammates in far away (or near) places are experiencing as part of their world. Baz is an adventurous teammate, a good photographer, and a good storyteller. For those who have not visited his website www.thelandy.com I do recommend it as a view of a part of the world that even many Aussies don't get to see. If I remember correctly, I think he replaced the landy (or Land Rover) with a Toyota...but what a travel outfit!

I rowed this morning with the goal of rowing for an hour. Got the hour in and was totally satisfied with my meter total until I uploaded them to my online log and saw that I was 836 meters from hitting 4,000,000 Lifetime meters. So I did what any of you would have done and jumped back on to row those last 836 for a nice even number of 4,000,000! Yay! Now I've got to go see what kind of cool Concept 2 swag they have for that accomplishment.
I also noticed that my season meters are going to be short of the 1,000,000 mark as I have 75,287m left to row in order to accomplish that goal and I don't see that happening in 5 days. Oh well, I guess I'll have to make that a goal for this coming season instead.
On another note: the news has been saying that people who didn't know that they had Covid-19 are having what they think are heart attacks due to the virus. So please be careful everyone while trying to push yourself for those pb's and shorter rows. While I had the virus, about a month ago, it was really hard to catch my breath even on the easy rows and yet I still rowed. Knowing what I do now perhaps that wasn't such a good idea. Just listen to your body and don't overdo it.

Congratulations on 4,000,000 lifetime meters!
Re: All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 4.24.2020
Here's a big shout-out for my 9 y/o grandie, Juliette, who has been rocking the sprint challenge
as her PhysEd class, during these home schooling days!
6,000K: 40:49, 3:23.4 pace.
30 mins: 4595, 3:15.8 pace.
500m: 2:51.0
Re: All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 4.24.2020
Congratulations Juliette!!!
So wonderful to see the whole big family rowing!
I still remember when your mom was part of the team...
I just hope that I can hang in long enough to see my grandkids rowing... it might take a while with daughter only in her first year of college .

Congratulations Jodi for 4M!!!
As for swag, there is just a certificate at 4M. One more M and you get a long sleeve shirt!
I manged to row another another 30 min TT, with a better plan: drag factor 110, fastest 6min 2:15.2, slowest/last 6min 2:18.4, stroke rate 28-29. It resulted in a PB of 6572 (+69m) .
For reference, last time I had: drag factor 97, fastest 6min 2:13.7, slowest/last 6min 2:21.9, stroke rate 30-28.
Very unlikely that I will do another 30 min TT in this session/season .
Happy rowing and stay healthy!

Must have been those ANZAC biscuits, hey...! Well done Juliette and everyone, Cheers Baz
(And thanks to Kona for the shout-out. We have been remiss in not posting on our blog due to lack of travel in recent times, so I’ll dig into the photo archives and post some photos of our beautiful country).

Congrats to Juliette!! Excellent results! The crew coaches will be waiting for you to hit H.S.
Congrats on 4 MM Lifetime Meters !!!
It is good to know that we have a SURVIVOR among the Lunies! May you not have any of the strange but true aftershocks associated with this nasty bug.Jodi wrote: ↑April 25th, 2020, 11:57 am.....

Five days...76,000 m ... meter millionaire season....1.5 hrs a day? And, yes, that 1.5 hrs doesn't always fit into the schedule. But. The same get back on the rower for that 800 plus meters mentality....!
Whoop, whoop and way to conquer ANOTHER million! Congratulations, Jodi, on achieving FOUR million lifetime meters! There are SURE to be MANY, many more milestones and celebrations!

Round 3...wrapping up today!
Sometimes, the meter margin between boats in the rankings of the Spring Series is REALLY small...like less than 10 meters. That still means that the boat collectively has to have about 100 more meters to get ahead of the boat we might currently be behind. You all get that. And so you go do something like a season best that puts us in position (with the assist from second or third efforts of other rowers added to it) to move from an average of 3-4 meters behind one boat... to suddenly being 9 meters ahead of that boat. Small "stuff" adds up. Photo finish for sure! Andrea's example (complete with drag factor, etc!) illustrates this well:

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Jodi, I am very happy to hear of your recovery from CV19, though saddened to learn that you contacted this vicious disease in the first place. Your advice to listen to your body and limit yourself accordingly is spot on—always, but especially now as we learn more about the varied threats to our wellbeing from CV19. It is not easy for some of us who spent our lives in a competitive profession. As someone working to recover some of my former pacing and distances following several assaults on my health, I have to discipline myself to put out of my mind what I could do when I took up rowing as a young man of 70. Eight more orbits around the sun have taken their toll. Inescapably, we are well advised to play individually the hands we are dealt. Doing that is more than a necessity: it is both pleasurable and intellectually satisfying.
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Well, it's Sunday and my knees are still extremely sore from an ill-fated light BikeErg session on Thursday. I'm just glad I was able to get a reasonable 30 minute row in!
Hopefully by mid-week I can make an attempt at the 4 minute test.

Very clever, K2-- Stayin' Alive is a 4-minute song!
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Well, I followed my own advice for once last week, and trained lightly Tuesday and Wednesday, took Thursday off and set out to get a good time on Friday... No power, I got halfway and bailed out, feeling sick. Tried again on Saturday, same result. Sunday was the last chance for a miracle, but I only lasted 200m, absolutly nothing in the tank, and not feeling it at all. My warm-up effort on the Monday suddenly seemed like quite a good result, perhaps because I did not feel I was really trying.
Today, I thought I would do a 4 minute row so I had something to beat later on in the week when I might have recovered more. Well, for me, this is a lot worse than the 500m. Immediately afterwards, I just felt a little tired. Ten minutes later, I started coughing. An hour later, I am still dry-retching and coughing. Somehow, the first ten strokes got me to a pace that seemed magical, and although I could not hold it, I could not let go either, so I finished.
It was my first ever attempt at 4 minutes, so was always going to be a PB. I will try, but somehow I do not think I am going to have the intestinal fortitude to improve on it this week.
I can't wait for this series to be over...

Whoop, whoop and it's a palindrome ! Congratulations, Steve W, on achieving a 3,000,003 m season! We wish you many, MANY more !!
