Social distancing is staying appx. 6 feet away from each other...Rowing distancing is rowing at such a pace that the team can't hardly see you up ahead Awesome job Zach! breaking 8k is an accomplishment very few can attain.....I'm going to be out for awhile as I continue to be plagued by an extreme case of planter fasciitis, it doesn't seem to bother me when I row but is quite painful and seems to be getting more aggravated after hard rowing sessions.normadelaney wrote: ↑April 23rd, 2020, 7:41 amZach, 8,206 m with an average pace of 1:49.6 for your 30-minute piece is totally awesome!!!

Hope you heal up soon, Doug.
Oops, I guess the PM5 shot is Hamish Bond's, not Winchester's.
And that article says "Ed Winchester, 49, died suddenly this morning of natural causes. He was in his basement in Hanover, on his erg..."
Oh, geez!!!

I broke my previous PB of 6,894 by cracking the 7k mark, then couldn't quite get off the erg for a few minutes, so I think I drained the tanks on it!
Started rowing 4/22/19.

Thanks! I think the migraines were weather related as we had a thunder storm roll in later in the afternoon, then it goes from cold to warm to cold again, and the cherry blossoms are all in full bloom so allergies could be playing a part as well.BigBrett58 wrote: ↑April 22nd, 2020, 8:43 pmNice work! Keep it up but don’t push yourself into migraines. That’ll just ruin your day (or 3 days?).Jodi wrote: ↑April 22nd, 2020, 8:08 pmTo answer your question, I rowed at a higher damper setting after a few days rest from that grueling 500k, and took my hubby’s advice not to push it after a 3 day migraine. Crazy as it sounds I was able to row my fastest 30 minute row this season without really killing myself. This is a timed row that I do often so I was really surprised to do so well. But in true Luna-Tic fashion I have GOT TO see if I can improve on that time! I was just short of 6,000m. I just know I can do better
But I definitely take your advice seriously as Ed Winchester dying on his rowing machine at the age of 49 is a sobering thought and a neighbor recently died from a heart attack at the gym and he was younger than me as well. "Ed Winchester, world champion rower, five-time Canadian national team member, and longtime rowing journalist passed away yesterday, reportedly of a heart attack while rowing the erg. Born in December 1970, he was 49 years old."
Sometimes I think it's easy to think, "hey if that 80 year old man can row and break records what am I complaining about?" But we all have different genes and history, so sometimes I have to remind myself that I am doing this to stay healthy, not kill myself in the process.
Okay, with that in mind I need to get another row in. I'm procrastinating.

The 30 min numbers ... as of right now
All four of our boats show up on the leaderboards. Thing is,though, that unless there is a meter number for round 3 next to that boat...you should know that not all the people listed for that boat have rowed an eligible piece. So. Mercury launched. Apollo launched. Eagle launched. Discovery needs FIVE more spots filled.
Most of the PM verifications happen within a quick turnaround. The PM2 verifications take a little bit longer because a picture has to be verified manually by a Concept2 person.
Sometimes, you will see a name inserted in the roster that you don't recognize. We have 556 people on the Lunies roster - clearly not all are on the roster for 2020 - but I can still use them. danwho figured out that in order for us to move people from boat to boat depending on their output for a specific series that we had to put a "placeholder" person in there to be able to move someone from Apollo to Mercury , for example. I use various people in the early part of the placeholder alphabet to enable those moves.
Here's the list - all in one place - and no, I don't see it all in one place either. Your extra efforts often make it necessary to move you up in the boat!

Zach, I'm also incredibly impressed with your pace.
(Might even be impressed enough to give it another go, even though this old guy thought he was done. I did say "might").
Hamish Bond is phenomenal (on the rower and the bike), and I only included the post because we don't get to see individual contributions to other teams, and I happened to see one. I think we're going to see a lot of C2 world records fall with Olympic athletes being prevented from competing in their normal venues.

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
I was able to add a miniscule amount of meters to my 30 min row, but still a pb for that distance this rowing season. This is fun, right? Definitely more fun than the 500m, and i'm sure it's a more comfortable row than the 4:00, which I don't think I've ever rowed for time unless it was to play the fish game on my PM3.
I can scratch "row" off of my to do list for today. Yay!

I was quite happy to improve 2m over my PB last time...
Also congrats for doing timed rows so closely one after the other!!!

Ouch! I've had lower leg pain on-and-off in the last few weeks - I really feel for you here. I hope you're able to recover soon!

You are a BEAST, Zach. Same to all of you who are giving 30 min more than one attempt. I just finished my go at it and I finished 63m short of my goal. Leaves me very tempted to try again, but I don't think my legs could handle it. Maybe Saturday or Sunday.
As always, congrats and great work to everyone. And thank you so much for the motivation.
