I don't have any lifetime goals yet. My near term goal is to get 1 MM each of rowing and skiing and 2 MM of biking by 4/30. Only need 25k rowing and 60k biking but 470k skiing. I've been thinking about goals for next year. Not sure yet. I'm trying to fit in some weightlifting and walking as well. Probably no running yet until I lose more weight. Its just too hard on my body. Lifetime goals are interesting to think about, but I've been too inconsistent historically to think that far out. I'm going to stick to more near term goals for now.

Hi Lunies, don't forget the World Rowing Virtual Indoor Sprints, March 4-8, 2020.

The World Rowing Virtual Indoor Sprints are a virtual indoor rowing championship run jointly by Concept2 and World Rowing. To take part you just need to row 1000m and enter it in your logbook by the deadline of March 10 12:00 GMT (08:00 ET).

I gave it a go and, guess what, I'm really slow. I guess I got used to rowing while watching Netflix.

Yep, it's all too easy to just plod along, comfortably watching whatever you're currently streaming. (Line of Duty, for me!) I sometimes beat myself up, when I compare my current times to those of just a few years ago ... but, it is what it is. At least I'm still plodding! We have incoming house guests, or I would give the sprint a go, just for curiosity ... but, I don't want to upset my knees before all the planned "tour guide" activities.

Many of you have the Alexa device in your homes....ask Alexa to release the kraken....just ask.

On a more astronomical bent, driving home last night I looked up at the sky and saw a conga line of satellites. Apparently Space-X has sent 60 of them up...and plans on 2000. They are interfering with astronomers' star trails...it was like watching alien ships cruising through the sky...and the hope was that they were "our" aliens.... take a look.

Image Keep going !! It's good for you!

We're 7 or 8 days into the Mud Season Challenge, and there are 16,213 participants at the 5000 m Challenge level throughout the Concept2 Universe. That's a mind boggling number that is only 20 percent less than the Holiday Challenge participation numbers. Still, in terms of participation, looks like the Mud Season Challenge might be 2nd overall !

GAZING INTO THE CRYSTAL BALL : Want to know how much difference it makes being on a team during these Challenges? For perspective, these participation numbers will be slashed by 90 percent at both the 5K and 10K Challenge levels throughout the Concept2 universe by the time the Challenge ends. For Lunies, we will see our finishers drop by about 50 percent for the 5K Challenge and less than that for the 10 K Challenge.

Mud Season Challenge:

5000 m participants 16,213 Lunies = 65 (up 1)

10000 m participants 6,388 Lunies = 40 (no change)

Inquiring minds want to know ... Will there be a mud slide viewing party? I can think of one candidate. I haven't seen this movie since I was a kid. I can still hear my Dad laughing through this whole scene. Please excuse the politically incorrect stereotypes ... it was 1963.

Image Tonight...keep an eye to the skies!

You know you won't see a giant earthworm displayed on the moon's surface, but tonight's full Moon traditionally goes by the name Worm Moon, which refers to the fact that earthworms and grubs tend to emerge from their winter dormancy at this time of year, marking a sure sign of spring! And sure enough, while making the now routine check for the possibility of skunks in the backyard BEFORE the pups go out, I did see an earthworm.
