When this month started i had NO IDEA wtf I was getting myself into...

I hadn't worked out since I hurt my back what maybe 6 months ago? And before the challenge I rowed maybe 5 small little baby distances to get used to it again and suddenly I find out theres a team challenge

Oh cool that should be fun!

..............................................

not a single person warned me of the hell that was awaiting me. true lunatics...

Lets just say this month taught me a lot man... about erging... and myself... the IMPORTANCE OF REST AND HOW HARD IT IS TO RATION IT IN A CHALLENGE LIKE THIS..

ugh. I'm throwing a blanket over my erg for a little bit man... i dont want to see its ugly face.

As many on the team know, six years ago I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. I've been undergoing chemo since that time, but at long last, I am done. This week was my last chemo infusion. Woo hoo!!!

I've had incredible support from many team members, and I am forever grateful.

I am especially grateful to K2, who supported me from the very beginning with many a video, amusing story, and all things sheeply to keep me going during some very dark hours.

Thank you!!!
So Happy to hear this news Norma! You have been a tremendous inspiration for me, and I have to believe rowing has played a big part in overcoming this cancer. You're Awesome Norma, best to you and your family as you move forward from this.

Thanks, Doug. I, too, believe that rowing helped to set me up for recovery from all the chemo.

Thanks, All, for the congratulatory messages and good wishes. Much appreciated.

January Virtual Team Challenge...it's a wrap! Image

Congratulations, everyone! You made it through the month!

Virtual Team Standings: https://log.concept2.com/challenges/vtc ... l&size=all

Lunatics Challenge Team Individual Meters: https://log.concept2.com/team/2537/vtc/2020]

Whoop, whoop and 14.5 MM Challenge Meters! Wow! In comparison, last year we generated 14.1 MM with 101 signed up, and were also lucky 7th in the virtual team rankings...but 17th overall. This year we are 13th overall !

There were some amazing contributions to the team meter piggy bank! 93 percent of those who signed on to the Challenge team contributed meters - and that's about where we fare on most of the team challenges. Nerd number crunching observation: teams that have 50 or less participants such as the Diamonds, the Ancients, and Ariel Toy had 100 percent participation. In the top 10 virtual teams, every team with 51 or more participants posted similar participation percentages to ours. Go figure.

It is much more impactful (and believable to the individual teammate) when this learning is a journey of self discovery :D You gave it a great run....watched you ramp up your meters consistently - with some step shifts in amounts! The last four days you were pretty much all in. Kept watching for the smoke signals of a burn out. There may be a blanket over the erg, but you know it's there...just waiting to call your name! Hahaha! Rest up and see how you feel about it...because there's a WHOLE YEAR'S worth of Concept2 Challenges that await.

Thanks for the congratulations. I even impressed myself with this entry  of two big accomplishments. I figured after I wasn't able to enter my meters for over a week (due to being way too busy) that I was going to save them up and dump them in at the end so that hopefully we could pull ahead of another team. Not sure if that happened, but it was a nice feeling to be able to contribute to the team effort and see a major personal accomplishment as well.
I LOVE this team and although I'm not able to be online all that much I check in now and then and feel welcome each and every time, even when I've been gone for a while.
If everyone knew about the Luna-Tics they'd all be scrambling to join our team! :)

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 2.01.2020

Post by Kona2 » February 2nd, 2020, 12:35 pm

Get your erging done early, because today is the BIG game....yes, Team Ruff will line up against Team Fluff and the 16th annual Puppy Bowl will be broadcast on Animal Planet at 3 PM ET/12 PM PT today. This is not just a short 30 minute deal either...it's a two hour "game" where respective teams of shelter pups do their best to drag a football toy into the right end zone for a puppy touchdown. Sometimes these touchdowns occur simultaneously for each team. All the pups are adoptable - and for sure, cheer them on! One of Colorado's own, Aspen the sort of cattle dog, will be sure to be a star with grab and run the football tendencies. Never fear - there's a kitty half time at the Dog Bowl. Ah, I love a good game!

The Tipping Point...

You know how it is when you're on your erg of choice and maybe you've input a distance that's going to be a stretch (or it's just a stretch on that day!), but you know that if you can JUST reach a certain point in that erg piece...well, it's all downhill erg from there, isn't it?! For me, when doing a half marathon, it was always about getting to 9999 remaining on the monitor - then I knew I would finish. But there's another tipping point, too...and that's when you're counting up to your first million...or your second or more! Some may view a shorter tunnel of say getting to 900 K, then cruising through the final 100 K to one million as the tipping point. Maybe I take a longer view of things - because I think the number is 700 K. Once you reach that, well it's just a hop erg and a skip erg to that one million. There is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS a psychological component that is a confidence builder.

Wish I'd thought of doing a twosie palindrome form 2/2/20...good thought by Cornel !

I've had a couple rough days of the stomach flu. Missed a Super Bowl party with my family but very excited to see my Chiefs win! I'm catching up with what I've missed on here over the past few days. Congrats to all on the battles you've all won on this great journey we're all on called life.

Another good day for indoor erging...temperature readouts here have a minus in front of them  ...

We had an uptick in our team meters (after a couple of days of post-Challenge "rest") yesterday. We are on the brink of a big milestone....ONE HUNDRED MILLION team meters. A really good day today could push us over the line, but tomorrow more likely. Good stuff!
