Can you post a picture of the new style crank arms ? And thanks for the good write up! I haven’t had any issues with my bike erg, but am probably not pushing it as hard S you do! I stay on 3-4 damper mostly.

Congratulations to all on another successful ArMOONda !!! ... You know those frozen meals that say "Asian inspired"... Well, I'll be Ed-inspired, but still in the 2 for $5 section.
I missed this little gem, earlier. Funny!

Queen of the Boat! Woot. I still get a thrill from being QOTB, and the graphic from whence came the "Minnie" moniker. I nearly didn't erg, last night, but wanted to watch the "Zen" TV series that I'd borrowed from the library.

Lunar New Year....although ours tends to occur on May 1 of each year as the calendar season resyncs for Concept2! Happy Year of the Pig...or the Boar...or the Javelina!

Image

Naturally, we aren't the only ones to use the distance from earth to the moon as a target goal ! We are getting closer to our virtual landing every day, though, and you should probably be practicing your moon walks. Here's a page from the Arizona Daily Star's weekly insert (called Caliente) that features a walking club that is going to use the distance to the moon as their goal to reach by July 20, 2019.... the 50th Anniversary of Neil Armstrong's walk on the moon. I like the interim stages from lift off - ignite stage 2 - escape Earth's gravity - halfway to the moon - begin lunar descent - fire retro rocket - and do the moon walk. I'll incorporate those in our next countdown, because I am sure that shortly we will be saying:

Kona, two pics of the Crank Arms, it wouldn't accept the images on the forum - probably something I did wrong!!! You can see the difference at the top of the crank arms with two connections rather than one.

So, this is how folks erg in Colorado...

Here is the associated article:

When native Coloradans were asked why they were so quiet about this adventurous pastime, they said "I don't want to brag, I don't want to boast..."
I thought they were singing Heywood Banks' Toast Song.

danwho finds the best videos and photos to illustrate his thoughts! Erging atop Flagstaff Mountain....more than a little precarious, there! Personally, I have not hiked Flagstaff. I've driven up the mountain... to Flagstaff House restaurant... :D

Meanwhile, thermometer shock continues with temperature sitting at 12 F below zero (- 24.4 C)...and six inches of snow. Was one of the more not-so-fun-drives from the airport yesterday evening -- we've all had those in one form or another. You know, the "maybe this wasn't a good idea" ones.
