[quote="Kona2"]
Yesterday I had spotter duty on one of the troublesome holes at Coal Creek Golf Course as a tournament host duty. In between foursomes approaching the dreaded creek they needed to cross, I had time (!) to investigate my surroundings. I was stationed on a bridge over the creek. My reverie was interrupted by a large something moving in the creek. It was one really big turtle. This small tank motored right up the embankment and across the cart path. Slowly, but steadily. Definitely over a foot in length from shell beginning to shell end. Still prehistoric looking.
Almost forgot to watch for where any errant golf balls were landing. Always interesting.

wow!!!! thank for posting.....turtles really are amazing :}

Somehow it seems way too soon to be fending off mosquitos....yet they are undeniably here...again. Little vampires...hovering with their high pitched whines like the drones that are modeled similarly!
Meanwhile, it is good to have a dog that likes to go on search and reconnaissance missions. It took a few training sessions to teach Kai how to pick up the newspaper from the driveway....especially when the delivery often ends up three feet under a vehicle. Getting the paper is one of her favorite activities, surpassed only by the game of you-throw-the-ball-MANY-times-and-I-will-never-get-tired-of-bringing-it to you, followed by a huge drink of water and drenching your human. Now that it's SO LIGHT SO EARLY (reminder...Summer Solstice is coming up soonest), there are quite a few distractions and much yard and street surveillance that needs to happen at the time of paper recovery. Bunnies, birds, and the current week's favorite, a duck, all require attention. But the mornings when the paper is thrown waaaay under, requiring the low crawl technique to retrieve it, are clearly moments of pride. The tail is in full plume as she trots happily back into the house, swagger on display...ready to "trade" the paper (well slimed outer cover usually intact) for a puppy treat.

Also, I don't know how you row for so many hours no matter how hot it is outside.
Not just physically, but mentally, I think it is very difficult.
You should try reading books instead

Hi David! I agree it takes a lot of both... took a lonnnnnnng time to get where I am with rowing. I listen to books, music, sometimes movies. Try to talk to wife on Skype in the states - I say try I get really winded talking and rowing at the same time. She tells me it is her way of helping me stay in shape.
Vacation coming up in July, looking forward to get away from the heat!
Happy rowing,
Ed
