It seems that air travel really doesn't agree with me. I keep coming home sick. I even wear a surgical mask.
Thanks for checking on me and for all the sheep cartoons.
I'll see if I can get in a short row tomorrow to close out the season.

MEANWHILE, CONGRATS TO ALL THE LUNA-TICS WHO HAVE MET THEIR ERGING GOALS THIS SEASON. WELL DONE!!!

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 4.29.18

Post by Kona2 » April 30th, 2018, 10:41 am

Well Lunies, THIS is it for the 2018 Erging Season ! I will do my best to capture the last meters of the season before the virtual clock strikes virtual midnight on the Concept2 site. Savor those totals that you have so carefully compiled...because at that virtual stroke of midnight, the erg counters all reset to ZERO....and we're off on our continuing adventure to the moon! As always, we will say goodbye to some teammates and welcome to others as the season progresses. Who will be among the first to show up on the 2019 team roster???

Marathon fever is sure to sweep through the ship. Shaun has already been our test sheep for the dangers of galactic air travel, so prepare yourselves well for all things erging. Marathon erging, and galactic space travel, is surely not for the faint of heart. I'm reading Rocket Men by Robert Kurson, a tale of Apollo 8 and the astronauts on that odyssey. Apollo 8 went from concept to reality in four short months, and that makes for a fast moving story, too. First to leave earth's orbit and orbit the moon.

I keep saying that I'll pay attention to that C2 virtual clock ... does my season end at midnight in Vermont, or my time zone, three hours later!? Regardless, you, stalwart Astrogator, are not going to stay up till 1:00 am, in order to capture my meters before they disappear! At the end of some past challenges, my late night meters weren't counted, even though it was still pre-deadline here, at UTC-8. I just squeaked in, last night ... finished rowing at three minutes before midnight, and my fitbit celebrated my target meters at the same time. Ta da. It's all a bit of good fun, and most excellent exercise. See y'all next season.

Image And here we go!

Like Minnie, I thought I was in the time zone window to capture the last of the last year meters. But no. Wasn't even 10 pm Pacific Time and we were zero'd out. Happily, Minnie found herself FIRST one on the Lunie roster. It's good to be first.

My new Logbook page now has a block for Concept2 Blog. It wasn't a conscious change on my part. If you've got it too, you might have noticed a couple of entries for new world records. I thought I'd point out that our Luna-Tics team has a couple of Rowing World Record holders. Can you guess who they are?

Shaun is a most excellent researcher - beats me out easily in the hunt-it-down talents! After somewhat futile searches, EVEN though I was given some off screen clues, I had to resort to .... google and type in concept2 world records. Was that sufficient? Oh no. I went back to Shaun for a Second Lifeline, and was told to look in adaptive rowing world records. The Lunies do indeed have two who are world record holders: E Vos, and Mighty Thor. Impressive!

Image And so it is that Shaun leads the team on a wild sheep diversion (WSD) - and shows us what we surely would not have seen otherwise. Cool stuff.
