"Take the juice from one bottle of that Ol' Janx Spirit. Pour into it one measure of water from the seas of Santraginus V. Allow three cubes of Arcturan Mega-gin to melt into the mixture (it must be properly iced or the benzene is lost). Allow four litres of Fallian marsh gas to bubble through it (in memory of all those happy Hikers who have died of pleasure in the Marshes of Fallia). Over the back of a silver spoon float a measure of Qualactin Hypermint extract, redolent of all the heady odours of the dark Qualactin Zones.
Drop in the tooth of an Algolian Suntiger. Watch it dissolve, spreading the fires of the Algolian suns deep into the heart of the drink.
Sprinkle Zamphour.
Add an olive.
Drink...but very carefully."

Whoohooo party time

Post by nl07695 » December 31st, 2008, 5:53 am

Whoohoo

Party time has arrived. It is still quite early in the Netherlands, only 10:30am but good wine has to breathe a bit to become even more Yummi. A better link to the right wine is http://www.bodegasalentein.com/bodega/b ... legal.html
Since we have underaged and designated spaceship drivers in the team I'll let you decide yourself if you are allowed to view this remarkable wine.

New years eve in the Netherlands is traditionally celabrated home with friends or family. The biggest event is the 25M lotery show on telly. During the evening we eat our traditional food "Oliebollen"

Image

For those that are interested in the recipe.... follow this link : http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,194,148 ... 92,00.html
For those that actually want to try them out .... See you at the JVC !!!

Hope to see some more party Luna's later today.

Cheers

Hello Everyone

Post by lunabibliofila » December 31st, 2008, 7:16 am

Hello again!

I hope everyone had a very nice Christmas and that you have a lot of fun tonight!

For me, it will be Dutch oliebollen on New Year's eve instead of Mexican buñuelos, plus some very nice fireworks courtesy of my hubbie.

And just as Peter did, I'm including a link to the buñuelos recipe if anyone is interested, and just like the oliebollen, you might have to do some extra rowing after them. :D
http://www.mexgrocer.com/502-bunuelos-bunuelos.html

We also have the Twelve Grapes Tradition, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twelve_Grapes, and that one we will be doing around 8 am CET together with my mexican family through Skype ! (I love the Internet).

I wish you all a Happy New Year, and may 2009 be a year full of Love, Health and Many Blessings !!

Lilia
ps. Hopefully our rower will be here by the end of January, and I can finally get back to contributing meters for the team.

For the last day of 2008 (as a retired police officer) what else will I be doing other than seeing the new Clint Eastwood movie (Gran Torino)?

Have a safe New Year's eve (don't drive) and don't let one of THESE guys get you (I call this - a police "action shot") :

Today is "pig out day" while Thursday starts my new lifestyle  for 2009! year!! Tom

DJ put that record on....

Post by nl07695 » December 31st, 2008, 11:18 am

Hi Dan,

The wine is at it's utmost best temperature right now. But what's a party without music? Here on Dutch radio we have currently the best "Album top 1000 ever". The dj plays two songs from each album. Pretty good list I would say. Since we have a virtual party we need virtual music as well. So here it goes....

http://www.radioveronica.nl/radioveroni ... er_new.php

requires a bit of ActiveX on your PC but all Luna's will enjoy the same music.

Lilia & Peter.

Happy New Year to Angelo in Oz!

Peter and Lilia, I guess y'all are next ... but that wine has to sit a few hours longer before you start celebrating. The recipes for both Oliebollen and Buneulos sound like something I could eat way too much of ... although I do have all the ingredients in my pantry! I love the "12 grape tradition," and will add it to our evening's festivities.

We'll be making our usual NYE Cioppino tonight. I don't really use a recipe ... it can be tailored to your family's preferences (we're heavy on the scallops and shrimp, less on the fish), but the Epicurious ingredients are pretty standard ... just add good bread and wine.:

Jan, it's too early for your Cosmo ... no matter how good a job you did on today's stats ... pace yourself, girl!

drink order

Post by Calamity » December 31st, 2008, 2:34 pm

OK, hoping the mixologist has the supplies:
Jane: a mudslide - kuhlua, vodka and baileys - you cant even taste the vodka
Debbie: beer, milk stout - although Debbie may forgo the drinking for a chance to deliver the first baby of the year in Yakima
Orion, Anais, Elias and Akira: Hot chocolate or cold hot chocolate - known to the rest of us as chocolate milk

Happy New Year to all.

If you want to check where the New Year has/is starting look at noradsanta.org and see the map of santa's route which is the same for the New Years.

Yes, but is does not have videos of Santa and a big map. This year on Christmas Eve you could google earth santa, which was a lot of fun.

Just checked, the video feature is turned off, but map is still there. Jane
