test results

Post by Thor MW » January 15th, 2018, 7:05 pm

Doc's office called today and the x-rays and ultrasound didn't show anything wrong. That's good but now I have to try and fix things on my own for a bit. If I can't then I will go back to the doc and see what's next.
Rock on my friends.

FRiC wrote:Dear all Luna-tics team friends, it's been exactly one year today since I bought my Concept 2 Model D. I used to run a lot but due to injuries and weather I stopped for a long time. I gained weight and my health deteriorated. After a lot of research, I decided to buy a rowing machine so I can work out without going out. (In case anyone is wondering, I paid USD 1,700 for my Model D locally.)

I'm still really slow and weak after one year and 1.2 million meters, but I've lost weight and feel better than ever. I want to thank Concept 2 and all the members here for keeping things fun and motivational. :) :) :)
Each meter counts towards a better you! I bought the Concept 2 for the same reasons - use to participate in triathlons and along the way my body - knees told me to stop! I had to find something to take its place in my life and buying the rower was one of the best things I could have done. I also have a Precor adaptive motion machine that I can run on that does not hurt the knees.

Nothing wrong with slow! progress is a positive thing to yourself...

Happy rowing,
Ed

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 1.15.18

Image Whoa...it was back to future again....we're 15th!

But I can explain! Or not. Theoretically, I have most of the 100K canoe images. Unfortunately, those are the ones that are being called "third party", so I can't access them. For instance, Norma is a generic native woman today....but her 200K paddling canoe works just fine. Norma, you'll just have to get that 200K....

I know, again I am floating about aimlessly in outer space. Well, I am on the injured list. My left shoulder has been bad since just before Christmas. The only time it hurts less is when I am reclining. Not necessarily a down side of course. I went to the doc and I am now waiting for results from both x-rays and ultrasound taken last week. I think it just might be a lot of tendon damage and very stiff knotted muscles. To this end I began doing yoga this morning. I think it might have helped a wee bit. The anti-inflammatory and pain pills don’t touch it at all. So, does the Mighty Thor become Yoga the bear? Does this make Janice Booboo? Is there a pic-a-nick basket requiring my attention someplace? Who and where is the Ranger? Hmm, ranger could be either Norma and or K2. Both have been known to give me a well deserved kick as needed.

Sorry guys.
Keep on rock’n.
Sending healing thoughts your way MIGHTY THOR! Listen to your body and take your time...

All my best,
Ed

Thor

What Ed said!

At least lunies are supportive, I had to take a loooong break with ligament damage and got nothing but snarky comments from my old team captain because I wasn't contributing big metres.

Don't rush things, I did and it did not help!

Rock on my friends.
Sorry to hear about the shoulder having you down. Shoulders are complicated joints and can be a painful and long healing process. With mine, i've always found that trying to rush a recovery never works. Give it some rest, hang in there, and get back at it when you feel ready. We'll still be here pulling chain.

Just got home, after spending five glorious sunny days at the beach, to celebrate DH's BIG birthday. I must admit that I didn't once think about finding a rower at a local gym! The rental was definitely beachfront, but it was 108 stair-steps down to said beach ... I did that round trip one time, before deciding that my knees didn't need that kind of abuse. (Adding my humble opinion that knees must have a basic design flaw.) Life was very pleasant, sitting on the deck with an adult beverage, watching the Pacific roll in and out, and squadrons of pelicans floating past. But, now, back to those canoes ... must get a paddle!

Well, this should be EASY for you with less than 500 m to canoe!

Arguably easier than 216 stairs for a quick walk on the beach ... though, I didn't realize I had quite that many meters to go for a paddle. Egad.

Keith,

I am biased for sure - we have the best team! All do support - we are not numbers/meters. Friends that want the best for each other. Support as needed.

Yes, Keith the Lunes are a great bunch. No snarky comments but some good snorts here and there.

Have fun all. Rock on.

Thor, Keith and the others are correct. Let yourself heal. Force nothing. You became my friend when you reached out to welcome me to this wonderful team of great people, and you always will be even if you never row another meter and even though our friendship took root in cyberspace. Ed is right. We are not about numbers but about friendship. Sure, we talk about numbers all the time, but implicitly apply the ancient adage in its entirety. Patently, we do not enslave ourselves like most of the world is doing today to only the first half of that adage: “Numbers don't lie.” We know instinctively (and some us literally) that there is a second half: “but liars figure!” And so do the reckless, negligent, self-centered and those without empathy. We are persons. We celebrate and we comfort one another. It is a blessing to be a loonie. I am sure you know that, my friend. Tom
