Some nice photos of you Guiness lovers. WEll...........I like imported beer and my wife takes care of me. I don't drink much, but drink GOOD stuff. I got hooked on George Kilian's Irish Red Beer. Kind of wondered why it was so affordable for an import - Imported? Yep - I found out later that it is a Irish FORMULA brewed by Coor's beer in Colorado. So..........I guess my wife (my wife is from Scotland and came here when she was 19 years olf) figured I should check out some REAL Irish brews. For a long time, I would go out with her and would go to order some Guiness and she stopped me saying......"that stuff will knock you on your..........!"

We went on vacation with a group of several other families to North Carolina. We shared in the food/drink costs and everything was up for "grabs!" My wife "graced me" with twelve Guiness Stouts! The Guiness was in the fridge to share with others. If someone wanted one, all they had to do was help themselves!

Yep -one has to acquire a taste for it, but I had my share - ALL of them!! At the end, I enjoyed them. Of couse, it's Guiness STOUT - not beer. In the "old days" the REAL pubs served it warm!! After drinking it, I figured you really gotta be STOUT to drink it. Kind of a special person that can drink it!! - Takes a REAL man or woman to drink Guiness.

Wow! Looking at the final team stats for the 2008 Holiday Challenge...You guys and gals are amazing! We are all in shape now for the JVC. Now some bad news...our family will be on the road from 12/30/08 thru 1/10/09, so we will not be logging any JVC meters for the first third of the competition :( :( :( :( .

Kapt K,

You'll just have to do double duty when you get home. Have a fun safe trip!

Guinness is good for you!

Post by kgallagher » December 26th, 2008, 4:03 pm

Love the Ireland photos. My hubby is a native Irishman and avid fan of Vitamin G. The best pint of Guineess I ever had was at the Guinness Brewery in Dublin. (I recognized the photos.) I would love to share a photo of my daughter holding a pint from the Brewery last year, but don't know how to upload to the forum.

Happy Holidays!

Tom, if you enjoy Killians, try Smithwicks (pronounced more like Smith-icks). This is a true Irish beer and what I used to drink back home in Ireland. Prior to its being imported to the states, Killian's was the closest I could find around here. Now I can buy it in the local liquor stores and pubs. Yummy!

Thanks to the guidance of Dan C. (Toothdoc) I am now able to upload a photo. This was my Holiday card image from last year. It is of my daughter Sinead holding my 1/2 pint from the Guinness Brewery in Dublin.

You're right, Doctor Dan. Maybe I can make it up somehow. Half-Marathons every rowing day for the rest of the month? Is it possible? Can the bum hold out after being off for so many days? Where's my bubble wrap from last year?

We have been getting way too much snow for this time of year. This is what it was looking like at the end of January last year. All this shoveling is keeping us off the rower...just too exhausted and sore.
