Did not even realize it until seeing here. Thank you, one & all!
40 mile Race For The Rivers on Saturday put a chunk of meters in the pot. Was focused on this one, with the goal of breaking 5 hours. Finished in 4:51, taking 1 hour 5 minutes off of last year's time for the same course. Know it was a good effort, shoulders and core just starting to recover. If I ever beat this time, it'll be measured in minutes & seconds, not by the hour. Lots of good people out there looking out for each other, proud to be associated with them

great race :]

Holy mother of god, that bike seat is brutal! I thought it would be my knees that complained, not my pelvic floor. I know, I was told, and forewarned aplenty. But, even with the gel seat, padded shorts, and a towel on top of it all … yikes! AJ lasted a good half hour+, on the bike, but my several increments only added up to maybe 20 minutes. (The last time I got on, my seat considered the bike seat and said "NONONO … don’t even think about it, missy!") Baby steps ... no squirming!

Take your time You will get use to it. There are plenty of seats out there. I'm sure K2 can help with that

The numbers were indeed captured early...and then the day got away from me before they were posted (pretty sure that Norma was within 10K at that time). I am working on downsizing my garage stuff before winter hits, and it is not a chore that inspires me. In fact, to try and recycle what can be recycled, etc., seems to take a lot of time that could be spent doing more fun things. But then I think of the expanding landfills, and keep working at it. Naturally (naturally!), I get sidetracked. Like noticing things such as the weatherstripping on the bottom of the garage door needs to be replaced (there's another chore that could make you fill the cuss jar! but oh, I can stop working on this and go get some to replace it...). In the scheme of world events, like Houston, it all pales in comparison. We had catastrophic floods here three years ago, and many roadways are still being reconstructed. Maybe some of our Holiday challenge charities will support these rebuilds. Yep, talking about Holiday Challenge already and we haven't even gotten to the Fall Challenge!
Ah, the dilemma of the bike seat aka saddle...yes, Minnie, you will be back in the saddle again. As Richard says, there are a lot of bike seats out there. For longer rides or touring, I do like the Brooks B17.
But they are made to conform to one person, not multiple people using the same bike. For exercise bikes, you are in a different world though, and you may need an adapter kit for adding a different saddle. You'll have to ask C2.
Mostly, I think you have to put in seat time to learn what form works on an exercise bike. Upright bike seats are different than the kind you use with the type of handlebars that come with the bike erg. Richard has made many of the modifications that I would also make on such a bike. With dropped handlebars, your neck will take a beating, too. Your hands may go numb and you think it's the position on the handlebars...but yikes...it's because you are tightening up your shoulders and you need to relax them. Bicycling and exercise biking take a bit to get used to...and then you are hooked. And there are the different kinds of gel seats, bike shorts, and yes...chamois butter. You can look that one up yourself. It could be r-rated here..as could the conversations about it.
Hahaha!

You know, somebody asked me once if you can distinguish the big milestones from the other sheep.
I know, silly question, right?
Congratulations, Norma !!!
The picture, called "Elephant in the Clouds" by Marina Cano, is of an elephant in Kenya giving himself a dust bath.

Update Seat
After riding my bike erg this morning for 2 hours. With my Brooks B17 I had to stop. The K9"s were giving me the evil eye time to take them Mtbing and swimming. Like all seats they have to be broken in even the Brooks B17. Again there are different model B17"s for women and men. The mounting system is terrible on this bike. The only thing I will change now is I will put a Black seat on the bike I have a brown one now B17. I hope C2 doesn't do what they did to ski erg came out with one I bought. Then changed it a little later. More thought should of gone into this bike. Seat and adj,Handle Bars,Pedals Should of had options. Like when you buy a car a standard edition and deluxe. As usual K2 is spot on.

So, danwho, which came first? The thought of distinguishing the big milestones from the other sheep or the marvelous "Elephant in the Clouds" picture ? I am sure it is Bizarro worthy (a compliment). The dust bath, both as concept and photo, is utterly foreign and yet, right. Fortunately, we have different sunscreen we can use as humans...

I think the seat mounting system on almost all exercise bikes doesn't give a lot of choices without an adapter mechanism. The bike erg sounds like a good break from other erging activities - particularly for those who might have some back issues. One of the things that I know Concept2 has to be working on is the conversion of bike erg meters into something that we can use for our yearly total meters. I can ride a bike a lot further in 30 minutes than I can row (and I can't even think of ski-erging for 30 minutes). One interesting snippet on a website called Ironathome.com compared the meters generated on an assault airbike to the Concept2 erg. The assault airbike looks sort of like the big wheel version of an Airdyne, and seems to be popular with the Crossfit people. What the fellow who wrote the comparison suggests is that on that assault bike, his ratio for meters is 2.1 meters on assault bike for every 1 meter on the Concept2 erg. So, if you spend 30 minutes on the bike erg, and generate 10000....it would potentially compare to 5000 on the Concept2 erg IF his ratio holds up to testing. Interesting stuff.
The good part is that active minutes...HOWEVER they are generated....are all good.

The picture came first.. I was looking at lots of sheep pictures for inspiration, and I was lucky enough to have this one somehow slip in during the search process. We have different bug repellents too.
