Goodness, thanks danwho, there's obviously a whole sub-culture of this cartoon. I found the K2, above, and the rare (if you say so) Lost Loafer.
So, now, I'll start searching for my lost shaker (no, not jigger!) of salt. It is, after all, five o'clock somewhere.

Meteor showers - those harbingers of doom or miracles depending upon whether you view the sky half empty or half full - do you count how many you see or how many minutes elapse between sightings? And are they just itty dots (wait...that was a satellite) or glorious streaks across the night skies? You can test out both counting methods if you so choose because we've entered the Perseid Meteor Shower timeframe (peak is August 12 or 13), and if you've got a clear night sky - it will be memorable! Here's a blurb on the Perseids:

Meanwhile, other forces of nature are at work here on Earth. Almost every time I am in Tucson, I walk through Sabino Canyon. Sabino Canyon's main road crosses Sabino Creek via 9 stone bridges that were built by the WPA and the Civilian Conservation Corp in the 1930s. There's also Sabino Dam that was built at the same time. A side note: some of you will recall from reading The Boys in the Boat book that Hoover Dam was another big project for the WPA during a time of high unemployment. These projects gave work to a lot of young people. But I digress. Sabino Canyon's stone bridges (dry and flash-flooded images below) are low structures. They aren't very wide (maybe 10 feet), and at this time only the Sabino Canyon tram, bikes and peds, and maintenance vehicles cross the bridges). When we were allowed to drive through, one vehicle had to wait for the oncoming traffic in order to get their turn crossing over. Heavy rains in Tucson over the last few weeks have filled the creeks and dry creek beds can become raging torrents in a matter of seconds. This past weekend was no exception as 26 hikers had to be rescued.

Are you implying that Concept2 are now marketing an exercise bike!? I don't have back-door access to the C2 site, which is still down, or I'd look ... that'd be a sweet addition to their equipment!

Yes I would buy one if I could try it first. I know it says you can try it for 30 days. If you don't like it ship it back it does not say you will get shipping charges back. Like i really need it . I have several air bikes now but life is short. Somewhere I read the one who dies with the most toys wins.

Going to the dogs! Dog Days of Summmmmmr is here!
Dog Days Challenge features a gradual increase in meterage (this might be a word, and it might be one that I made up) through the four weeks of August. Week 1 is a modest 10K requirement, week 2 is 20K, week 3 is 30K and week 4 is 40K. This not only puts 100K in your meter piggy bank throughout August, it gets us all ready for....the FALL TEAM CHALLENGE. There's Concept2 strategery at work here.
Perhaps the bifrost bridge has been restored from Asgard to Earth...Thor and Janice posting some fine meters today!
True to form, Richard T called it right with the erg bike launch. I think we should ask Vermonter Ron to go on a field trip and test one of these things out! My bike stable is full!
MILESTONES...Bragging Rights...Celebrations:
750 K Norma - hooboy! Three quarters of a million!
