LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 3.23.17
Heh heh heh....Day 24 or 25 of 31....
So. Are you going to celebrate when you hit 25 days on the 5K board or 25 days on the 10K board? Well, BOTH of course! That's the upside...we have TWO potential celebrations per participant....not so for 62 former occupants of the 5K a day board (currently showing 1752 total)...or 31 former occupants of the 10K a day board (currently showing 650 participants). Fear not, there will be new life breathed into some of the dearly departed as meter piggy banks are belatedly emptied. Lunies standing strong at 36 on the 5 K a day board, BUT alas and woe...only 20 on the 10 K a day report (lost one)! Hang on...hang on...hang on!
Lookin' Good at Sixth!

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers for Kihei. Some of our teammates have had their own battles with chemo - and surely their battles are more important. Fur "children" are still major players in all our families though. I really had a hard time deciding to go the chemo route for her. We'll see how it goes. In the meantime, true to form...reports from the vet office and its assistants were that Queen Kihei held court for all the other dogs who were in hospital for the day. Such a socialite!
PS - autocorrect is a royal pita.

Day 25 or 26 of 31...and Keith Jones is the first Lunie Mudness Challenge 5K a day finisher!! Louis F is the first 10K a day Lunie Madness Challenge finisher!
Mudness is one of the few (if not the only) Challenges that puts you on the Honor Board from Day 1 of the Challenge....and YOUR challenge is getting to stay on that Honor Board! About 80 more 5K a dayers slid off the Honor Board and into the meter abyss yesterday, and 25 or so fell off the 10K a dayer. This brings our total participants counted to 1677 for 5K and 627 for 10K. That's still a really high percentage of people participating at the 10K a day level. Will pride be enough to keep your virtual claws hanging on?? Lunies are now at 35 on the 5K a day board, and alas and woe....only 19 on the 10K a day board. Hang on...hang on...hang on! The end is near, one way or another (cue Blondie)....heh heh heh!
Another episode....it is, after all, the time of the March hare, who was quite mad!...
There have been some epic total solar eclipses in the recorded history of mankind...and the recorded episodes have called total eclipses everything from the wrath of God, to miracles, Armageddon or DOOM (particularly of a ruling dynasty). Each of us may find something to wish for among these choices. Snort.
Get out your diaries and calendars, mates! August 21, 2017...a Monday...is going to be an auspicious day. Depending upon where you are in the 70 mile wide shadow corridor from Oregon to South Carolina, you will be treated to a midday "treat" of a total solar eclipse. With your special eclipse glasses (you WILL need these), you will be able to see the Sun's corona. You will also be treated to a relatively short (2 minutes and change) timeframe in which to see this. The brightest stars and some planets will be visible in that midday sky. It will be exceptionally cool and weird, which will fit our Lunie personalities well. Fortunately, this is occurring in summertime because hotels are said to be sold out. Get your mind wrapped around that fact, and build excitement that you will be camping. One of the things that will be so amazing about this eclipse is that it occurs in a swath that is over water and in largely unpopulated regions....and this time it's an eclipse that visits only the USA. Fear not, there are others that will happen in a few years - yet this one looks to be such an opportunity!
Once you've started down the ecliptic (an ecliptic is actually the apparent path of the Sun throughout the year....and that imaginary line that you can also follow when you are looking for planets in the night sky), you're well on your way to having yet another unusual Lunie experience. Take a look at the NASA Solar Eclipse website. https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/ Night sky viewing, whether you go to your local planetarium or observatory, or you're out in the backyard, is a seemingly timeless tradition. Our 88 constellations were viewed by people all over the planet - each culture with perhaps its own names and stories to go with the different constellations. Are you able to see the seven brightest stars in the Big Dipper? Or perhaps you're really far sighted and you can see some of the Big Dipper's fainter stars too...or you're not in an area of light polution! Check your local nature centers to see what events they might have planned for spring and summer. You might be treated to a view of Jupiter and a couple of its moons through the eyepiece of a telescope at this time of year....and later in the summer...you REALLY want to get to see Saturn's rings . It is simply awe inspiring. While on our way to the moon, we will see many stars!
But I digress, which is naturally (naturally!) what a bunny trail of the mind is all about.
