Each letter in the Hebrew aleph-bet has a numerical value - aleph is one, bet is 2, gimmel is 3 etc. Several words/numbers have special significance. The word for life is chai, made up of the letters het & yud; 8 +10 =18. Donations are often expressed as a multiple of chai. Two times chai ($36), 10 times chai ($180) etc.

The word for "moon" has the same letters as chai plus resh, which is 200. Thus moon is equal to life + 200. Given enough shnapps or slivovitz one could expound on the meaning of that for hours.

This looked moon-ish and possibly Hebrew ... ?

The top word is moon.
The left is month.
The right is white.
The bottom looks like a name, Sahar.

Holiday Challenge Meters

Post by Kona2 » December 10th, 2008, 11:25 pm

Chris noted that the team total holiday challenge meters are now visible next to the total meters the team has accumulated for the year. We are 7th overall in both total and holiday challenge meters - but the Eh Team is coming on strong in the holiday challenge (a portent of things to come for the JVC), and the ranks of the flotilla of ducks have swelled to 94 - and they are in 5th overall for the current challenge. Outrowing us.

I believe Kristine has indicated this: we do have to go to the team page in our logbook and indicate whether or not we will be participating in the JVC in January. I thought this was going to be an automatic, but it appears not.

Flex those rowing muscles - it is going to be a wild challenge!

K2, I have enrolled the LUNA-TICS challenge team in the 09JVC. If any of our team mates were on the previous challenge, then they are probably still on the roster. I say still because sometimes a person gets dropped from the team roster by accident somewhere. I will cross-check the challenge roster with the regular team roster to make sure everyone is on the challenge team. We actually have quite a few challenge team mates who are not on our regular team.

I just checked and YES I got the same error. Must be temporary technical difficulties going on, or maybe we lost communications with Earth on our way to the MOON! Huston we may have a problem....

Check your logbooks

Post by Kona2 » December 11th, 2008, 11:39 pm

Gina - your logbook total now reflects the number that you thought you had input - which is different than the number I saw this morning!

I had a lot of trouble accessing the logbook, and forum, yesterday evening. I think with the addition of the holiday challenge "sort" we are having a couple of hiccups.

Everyone please check your logbooks - go to the team heading - and see if a note is there that says anything about the JVC. I had to select that YES I was going to participate in the JVC with the Luna-Tics - otherwise, I would be a team member, but my meters wouldn't count towards the JVC.

Thanks! K2

I must have hit enter twice because I when I checked it later it showed 2 entries for yesterday. I deleted the extra one. Today I rowed 6090 - so you should credit me for all of 872 m tomorrow.

higher math, LOL.
