Got 2 feet of snow here, buried the truck while plowing. Had to dig it out to get unstuck. Shoveled a whole bunch, then rowed 13k, and shoveled some more... Yeah, I got exercise today.....
Worked on the boat, too...

How is that boat coming along? I had a look at the web link you put up, the end result looks beautiful, but is their estimate of 40 hours to build it anywhere close to the truth? Still, working on it must be a lot more satisfying than shovelling snow :D

I like to think that the rowing makes the shoveling easier - not more fun, but doable! Good man to get all that done!

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 3.14.17

Now that's the Colorado Rockies pi lineup at yesterday's spring training game! Naturally (naturally!) I am thrilled that the team celebrated a big Math Day! And that Opening Day is just a few weeks away!

Image
Day 15 or 16 of 31...hemisphere dependent! So how's the Challenge coming along for you?!

It's a giant swirl ! Vaporizations continue at an alarming rate....including some Lunies. The Erging Universe is down another 400 at the 5K a day level (5 Lunies vanished), and down 100 (1 Lunie) from the 10K a day level. Stay with it Lunies...

Meanwhile, the Mudness Madness Winners list was updated yesterday and sadly no Lunies have yet been gifted with goodies. There are still a LOT of days left to have your name drawn ....all you have to do is keep erging the required contributions....and, hey! The odds improve as the pool gets smaller! Hope springs eternal! Take a look! http://log.concept2.com/challenges/mud- ... 17/winners

And just how many of the days in the last two weeks have YOU had to talk yourself into getting your meters done and into your personal meter piggy bank?! Sometimes I have to split my erging sessions into two...knowing that at least I get the minimum done with the first 5K. It is seems like a tougher goal when it feels prescriptive on distance! Wait...it IS prescriptive on distance! Nose to the erg grindstone Lunies! You've come this far....finish it!

ImagePS...Today is the start of the World Erg Challenge....are you signed on with the team??? Your meters can do double duty - some for your Mudness Challenge and some for the World Erg Challenge! It's a TWOFER!

Their estimate is 120 hours. It'll be around 160 once the paint and varnish is done. They don't include paint and varnish in their build estimates.

All signed up for the World Erg Challenge and committed to finishing the Mudness Challenge (13 down 12 to go). By the way, is it wrong to find some strange satisfaction to be tied with Ed Church in a challenge? Luckily the unit is DAYS rowed and not METERS rowed!! :D

Well done Terrepin! Being level with Ed is always something to be proud of.

I'm a great believer in motivating myself by adjusting criteria until success is possible (but still a little demanding). For instance I did a 100km row that was the fastest for this season in my country and age group! OK, it was the only one :) , but when make the criteria any less restrictive, I come in last...

I came across an article on Chris Bertish today. he would give even Ed a run for his money:
  • 93 consecutive days of marathon plus distances!
    On a stand up paddleboard!
    On open waters!
    Unsupported!

Oh, and he crossed the Atlantic...
Details at http://www.ybw.com/news-from-yachting-b ... sing-49198

Yesterday I saw on LinkedIn an old coworker of mine is going to try to run 230km+ in a twenty-four hour period this weekend https://ktkc.everydayhero.com/au/cameron

But neither of them are going to get on the Mud Season Madness honor board this year, and I still can if I stop making excuses for not being able to row today!

Halfway through the mud madness...and mudders are putting on the brakes to slow the descent! "Only" lost 10 percent from the 5K ranks, and 8 percent from the 10K bunch. Congrats to Ken and David for 3M meter seasons! Trying to chase that goal myself, so know it's hard earned. Pulling off Mud Meter Challenge is a challenge as well! Had a back procedure today, got in 5k before surgery, hope to do an easy 5000 tomorrow afternoon/evening. Have a few days banked and plan on being a Lunie's mudder :D .

Way to go Ken and David A. I hope your back heals soon, bg. Good luck in you quest for 3M meters, but don't overdo it. Impressive metrics are nice, but they were created by human beings to help, not enslave, human beings.
