We're less than a week away from the March Challenge...formerly known as March Madness....and now known as March Mudness to celebrate what Concept2 calls the fifth season in between snow and spring....where mud happens. If you decide to go for the 10K a day advanced challenge, you'll be getting in some great training for the May Global Marathon Challenge. In fact, some may try throwing down a half moon or half marathon before March is done! This is especially exhilarating if it's a FIRST EVER! Think about it...

Image Another episode...adventure on!

The lure of adventure is like a siren song...and we're all a bunch of lunar adventurers! March Madness isn't just for erging, basketball or baseball's spring training....no, the lists of bike tours are rolling out. Adventure Cycling magazine's cover touts that this is the Bikepacking issue, and Ride the Rockies says I have 24 hours to get my registration into the lottery bin. Local groups clamor for early registrations....so many to choose from! Hours could be (admittedly are) spent looking through guide books, at maps, and youtube videos! It's almost like getting the Sears Christmas book....

Image

Long ago, and far away....it was north to Alaska and what seemed like a remote outpost near Delta Junction. The Christmas catalog was the dream book, and the source for the Santa requests...because there wasn't a whole lot of tv reception up there. Waiting "your turn" to look through the book was really hard. A favorite toy is one that perhaps some other teammates might have had....it sure wouldn't pass today's safety standards, but what fun!

Image

So much adventure awaits.....MAKE time for yours!

7.8 MM Ed

Great job on this challenge! I always enjoy them...

Now is the time of year over here my meters slow down... GOLF my favorite passion begins - I joined two leagues so I can golf more. Temps in the 70's and 3 nights a week under the lights for three months before the 110+ temps hit.

BG - Good luck on your marathon - always in awe in all you do! Great cause as well.

Kona - if you are out and about in your area my son and his family lives there and has a side business of food truck called Saturn Pit Stop. He is on Facebook under that name and tells where they will be... I'm bias of course but they make some great sandwiches.

Andrew - thanks for the friendly competition! Always fun to keep the pace.

Thor - hope you get better soon brother! Want you back in the saddle.

Happy Rowing all,

Ed
One of the best things about this team is that you can ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS learn some new things, and get some experiences you might have missed otherwise. I heard that Saturn was indeed orbiting the local area tonight, and they were going to be the food truck of the day at a local craft brewery called Rails End. This seemed like an awesome opportunity to say hi to Ed's son (sort of a delivering a hi from his dad via a teammate), try out the food truck fare and have a brew...all shared with friends. Ordered an oatmeal milk stout, and ventured into what was a freezing cold night to Saturn. Space is cold. The Saturn sandwiches were really good, and I splurged with some space fries. I am pretty sure that Ed's son and family were totally caught by surprise with this unexpected visit. Nice people, and we'll support them!

That 44,292 meters was a typo, I hit the 4 instead of the 1. I've corrected my log, but didn't want anyone thinking I had done 44,292 when it wasn't even close. :)

Oh, yum, that sandwich and those fries look extremely tasty. I vote that we change course and head for Saturn, immediately ... I hear it has about five dozen moons, so our mission statement of going to "the (unspecified) moon" will not be compromised! Who knows, maybe Pluto will be a planet again, by the time we get to Saturn!
