I knew I could manage 100k in a 24 hour period in bits, I wanted something a little more, like the first marathon I ran all the way rather than walked/ran. That was why it was so scary! I was hoping to make it under eight hours. I guess that there is some truth in you get what you visualise, I made it in 7:57:59, having stood up twice, once to change pillows and once for a toilet break (I drank 7 litres of fluids). Fortunately the expected hot weather did not materialise.

Congratulations to Danno, Wim, David B, K2 and all the loonies achieving great results as the competition comes to a close!
WOO HOO! :o
Congratulations on finishing such an incredible row, and beating your goal!

Good erging by all the Challenge Team! We topped 14 million meters during the month of January thanks to all your efforts.

Image From Bicycling Magazine, March 2017, p. 50...now that would be a good article to do the research for...hahahaha!

What the Fluff, you say?! bg has been holding out on us ! For YEARS now, we have heard ONLY about Marshmallow Fluff, and indeed this seems to be a staple of bg's diet from time to time. The Marshmallow Fluff Festival is held in Union Square, and this September will mark the 100th anniversary of the invention of this sticky stuff. But wait. Union Square you say? bg did not mention the donuts, specifically Union Square Donuts in Somerville ! I mean really. I opened this month's Bicycling magazine...wondering just how you bike a donut race, much less how you win it....and there it was....Somerville, MA. Everyone has a special treat they reserve for finishing big rows, or big bike rides...and it turns out that donuts seem to be a food group of choice for some cyclists (and I will bet some runners, too). No, I avoid them....just looking at them can create fluffiness I am convinced!

We'll expect a report out, bg! Maybe they have a fluff variety...

Image Got Challenge withdrawal?! Hahahaha! Well guess what....naturally there's ANOTHER one just around the corner ...or in bg's case...just around the Union Square. Yes, continuing yesterday's theme (especially now that I know one of the slogans is Donut Stop Dreaming)...apparently there IS a Marshmallow Fluff donut creation....we may have to wait all the way until September for bg to venture into Donut Land. AND look what would await her:
Image

Uff da as many would say.

Meanwhile, back in the land of snow and ice, it is hard to find terra firma...or at least terra not quite so slippery. Getting the trash bin out to the curb yesterday was a skate park throwback...had visions of an unceremonious landing among the trash bits. The slight slant of my driveway was just enough to start the bobsled run...and hope that it didn't turn into the luge. Even the most ordinary things in life can turn into adventures in my world! :D

Whoop, whoop and way to seize another golden opportunity (or maybe it was the brass ring as the erg circle went round and round)! Congratulations, Tombeur, on achieving a three million meter season! My calculations suggest that you may indeed hit the 20 million lifetime meter milestone by end of erging year...no pressure! We wish you many, MANY more meters and milestones !
