The Australia Day long week-end celebrations have unfortunately taken a toll on my ability to hit the erg. This has been factored into my plan however, which includes an attempt at 100,000m straight on Monday to bring up 1 million for the month. And that still leaves Tuesday in case my determination flags; of course, that can't happen now that I have gone public with the intent
The Australian Open this year is a great reminder that it is never too late for a comeback.
Let's go Lunies, Let's go!
Kiba Pizza Alert !!
Some of our teammates will remember a young Canadian gal named Kiba who rowed with our team for a time. She would order pizza to fuel her 100,000 m rowing event. And, while this didn't happen every week by any means, it happened multiple times. So we know that it can be done! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_tYQRP4QWM (Back up plans are always good, though!) It will be memorable!

What a boat! What a feat! For yet another month, Ed has completed a million meters in a Challenge...and I know I am in awe of the amount of time and energy that he has devoted to this Challenge. Well done!!
Thanks Kona! Been a fun challange this time with no back end talking to me... today I passed the 7 million milestone for the year. Always nice to see the meters roll to next milestone. Kudos to you as well - you put in a good number of meters this challenge. On top of all else you do it is an amazing feat!
Come on Andrew - you are close, you can do it...
Happy Rowing,
Ed

I've been "tapering" in preparation for the big event tomorrow, trying to take it easy given I could not spend much time on the rower. The end result was a PB for the 5000m last Wednesday, then a failed attempt at a PB for the 10k on Australia Day, too late in the day, too hot, too many excuses. Following Yoda's advice from Kona2, I did it yesterday. Probably the most mentally challenging row I have ever done, but very nice to know that all this rowing is actually helping me improve
Today I have not contributed much to the VTC, a mini-palindrome, but it does include the best 500m I have done in the last five years, an effort that took longer to recover from than my last marathon distance (it gave me an asthma attack)
Tomorrow is going to be the toughest row I have ever taken on, scary because it is so much longer than I have ever done before, and because at one stage the forecast was for 38 degrees Celsius (100.4 Fahrenheit), my garage is going to be like an oven. But I have done the training, I've rested up (sort of) and I'm hungry for Pizza and a beautiful boat like Ed's. I must be a LUNA-TIC, I certainly feel like one right now!
