LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Bike touring
Wow, David ! Seriously impressed with what looks like a solo bike tour! That's some lonesome country out there! Well done!
No spandex to be seen!

Wow, David!!! Those are some expansive tent accommodations. I'm guessing the poles coil up?? I'm amazed at what you were able to fit on your bike. Paniers on the back and more packs on the front. So how many miles did you cover? Major kudos!!!

With the January Virtual Team Challenge starting in just a few days, you might be considering some extra erging time and distance. ... at 500,000 m ...well, you join the Bathtub Brigade...and, not surprisingly, we do have a million meter boat. Now's the time to plan your strategy !

Norma No pressure to repeat the feat!
Hahaha, no bathtub aspirations for me this year. Last year was quite a stretch for me. I dedicated last year's challenge to a friend who had once dedicated a challenge to me a few years back when I was away on a tough medical leave.

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Thanks so much for volunteering again! I'd like to have a KGB (Kahlua, Grand Marnier, & Bailey's) coffee, please. With coffee at midnight I might be inspired to get that first VTC row in. Midnight is not an hour I see very often.Calamity wrote:Ok Guinnan's back ready to mix up holiday drinks again. Here is the deal - either post or PM me whatever drink you think you will be in the mood for this New Years and I will do my best to virtually serve them up New year's Eve.
Re: All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 12.28.16
500,000 m ...and it seems that you did a palindrome of 500,005 m ...that's 24 half marathons, or about 17,600 m per day...every day. It does take something like a challenge dedication to complete these half million and million meter efforts simply to carry you through all the days that one just wants to give it up. It's a lot of personal discipline to keep a "promise" to yourself.normadelaney wrote:

There are some posts throughout the erging universe that use the term junk meters....meters that are perhaps outside the structure of a good training plan that has a specific purpose to help you reach a goal of a shorter time for a specific distance, or meters that are completed using poor form...and those types of training plans are very valuable for delivering specific results. Equally, there are MANY who will say that all activity is good, whether it is designed to help improve a time or reduce stress or just to enjoy a walk in the day. Lots of other benefits happen there. I'm a recreational cyclist - always have been. I like to stop and check out things when I'm riding, or stop and take pictures - especially if it is a social ride. I have gone down this path purposely, as during a lot of these Challenges, I am not driven by a training plan, but rather some inner need to complete or push myself one more time to do something that takes a lot of time. So not all the meters fit a training plan, but they all keep me active and more flexible than I would be without doing them. All meters are equal...but some meters are more equal than others. Snort. It's all about the why you're doing them, and how that is important to you. Each of us needs a good purpose to do these biggie distances.

Last call for drink order! I will be at work photoshoping later today. Jane

Thank you.Tombeur wrote:A special congratulations to David A. for reaching 200,000 meters in the Holiday Challenge just before his vacation. True enough, I am there too but my pace does not begin to approach his. I am regularly awestruck by how fast he rows these long distances. He is an inspiration even if I am inately incapable of ever matching his rate per 500 meters. He is pushing to go a little faster and at 74 I am happy for that.
When I started erging over 20 years ago it wasn't too hard to keep a 2:00 pace, and it was such a nice number to aim for. As I got older I had to do shorter distances to keep that pace.
Last year I got LIveRow and RowPro, and they made me go faster - too fast. I want to still keep up the meters, but also the 2:00 split for this year.
I originally was trying to be on the 7500 m daily average list, but then decided to try for 3 Mm a year.
All these numbers, and competing with myself, and refusing to believe I'm getting older,

Opps - Guinean has lost a PM drink order. If you PMed me a couple days ago telling me a Between the Sheets is too strong in real life - please send me another message with your order.

Ok Lunatics - you can either get tanked or empty the tank. We are serving up some specials for New Years and posting early so those in earlier time zones than mine can partake. For your pleasure:
Kristine - double mudslide (kahlua, vodka and bialeys)
BG – Black and tan(Guinness and Bass) or champagne
Escapade - Long Island Ice Tea(Tequila, gin, vodka, rum, triple sec)
Steve M - Muscle Milk
Thor - Banana Momma (light rum. anana liqueur. Malibu® coconut rum. pineapple juice. orange juice. 1 dash grenadine syrup)
Just27 Champagne jello shots (1 1/2 c. champagne (divided) 1 tbsp. lemon juice, 1 tbsp. sugar, 3 envelopes gelatin 1/4 c. vodka rainbow sprinkles
Dan who - Between the sheets (Part Cognac, Part Light Rum, ½ Part Lemon Juice, Part Triple Sec 1 Twist Lemon)
A very special request is sitting on the erg seat - a Mata Hari in being sent to Minnie’s table from an anonymous admirer. It is made from (1.25 oz cognac, 1 oz -chai-infused sweet vermouth .75 oz Freshly squeezed lemon juice .5 oz Simple syrup) and because it is named after a spy, appears elsewhere in the picture too.
Added this year is outer space vodka just for fun.
Never google jello shots on pinterest - their posters are making way too many of these.
For me a Rusty train (gin, lemon juice, triple sec, spash of red cucureo) There is no picture of this as it is my own creation in honor of my son Orion's boxcar being moved to our backyard this year (http://www.courant.com/news/connecticut ... story.html)
A happy and healthy New Year to all. Remember to sign up for the virtual challenge.

Hey, many thanks, whoever sent over the Mata Hari double agent cocktail! I'm going to have to try that, in real life, and will be on the lookout for chai infused vermouth! (Or concoct my own, from chai tea spice mix.)Calamity wrote: A very special request is sitting on the erg seat - a Mata Hari in being sent to Minnie’s table from an anonymous admirer. Awesome article. Orion sounds like a great kid, with a lot of diverse interests. I can't believe that he's 15 y/o, already! How old are Princess Anais, and your younger boys?Calamity wrote:For me a Rusty train (gin, lemon juice, triple sec, spash of red cucureo) There is no picture of this as it is my own creation in honor of my son Orion's boxcar being moved to our backyard this year (http://www.courant.com/news/connecticut ... story.html)
Love the graphics! Only the really cool kids have virtual NYE team parties with virtual adult beverages and a celebrity barkeep. In space!
