All In A Day's ERG: Team Stats for 2.29.08

Post by Kona2 » March 1st, 2008, 11:21 am

Good morning Luna-Tics!

Our season to date = 30,427,457 m (still in 14th place overall)

Total meters for leap day = 91,279 m

Strong rowing by all participants:

Darryl B 14,217 m
Angelo P 12,080 m
Dan C 11,122 m
Kym S 10,579 m
Barb G 10,000 m
Tony P 7,388 m
Mary H 7,226 m
Steven L 7,022 m
Tim P 6,645 m
Chris T 5,000 m

Hope all enjoyed the extra day yesterday! I know I took the day off from rowing to take the bike out for a spin (not all muscles are worked the same in rowing and biking...) and then found out later in the day that our bike group is IN for the Ride the Rockies trek later this summer! (This is a lottery so it is definitely not guaranteed entry) Woohoo! Here come the bike miles! Slow but steady! (Check out Denver Post Ride the Rockies if you are interested in finding out about this one)

And no, I am not a canoeist at this time (we keep looking at these - then looking at the swimmer dogs and wondering if we will all be afloat or not). In yesterday's post, I was referencing the fact that a certain canoeist named DuluthMoose is showing great maneuverability through the virtual waters and is on the mooooove towards the most meters in the group spot.
You are a true enthusiast Darryl - your description of canoeing certainly makes me want to give it a try!

Get Your Irish On!

Post by Kona2 » March 1st, 2008, 11:51 am

3.01.08 - Day 306 of our Lunar Mission

Our lunar log shows that we have suddenly encountered a bit of the blarney on our journey to the moon! We've had a challenge issued for 10,000 m a day, but we know that we'll take whatever anyone wants to row! The schedule looks a bit cryptic around middle of March - there's a strange entry about NARC and another team rowing competition...

Our quest?

Image

Earn your March Madness rowing certificate by rowing at least 5000 meters for 25 of the days in March. This gives ample time for rowers to have rest days too.

So get your Irish on for the next 31 days - and have some fun with this! I am sure that we can count on a lot of Luna-Tic blarney!! Virtual boats to the water!!

Appreciate the support and encouragement on the forum. When I get home and say things like "I just rowed ... in a record time", my partner says supportive comments like "Uhah" and "Umhm". I'm sure none of you have ever had that experience.

I'll add to this..I got mine in..but I started with 12,884..figured it was good to start with a bang..go in like a lion and then go out like a lamb.I felt strong and so went for it.
Anyone else??

I'll put my two cents in; completed two sessions today 25,540 Want to use the challenges to get to 2 million meters by May 1. Plus my wife is getting a knee replacement in three weeks so I will probably miss some days, so the weekends need to be big. Good luck to everyone.

I only did 13,894 today, just to round off the odd integers on m quest for 5 million. Now at 4,900,000. Soon will have o deal with a whole bunch of zeros.

All In A Day's ERG: The Numbers for 3.01.08

Post by Kona2 » March 2nd, 2008, 10:39 am

Way to row Luna-Tics!

Season total = 30,618,739 m

Total meters for March Madness Day 1 = 191,282 m (up 100K from previous day!)
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage
Milestones:

1.4 MM Tim P (Trouble1)

5 Million Meter Watch = Dan C (Toothdoc) has entered the 5 million meter watch circle with (100,000 m) to go to reach that 5 MM tee shirt!

Rae S = another 1000! Good rowing!

Welcome back Kristine! How's the overhauled rowing machine working?

Image

And the pot of gold for the day goes to:

Chris T with just 27,040 m !
Tim P with 25,540 m
Angelo P with 19,607m

I'll have to catch up on some meters today! We had a great day of 74 degrees here in the Denver area. Today it is snowing and the temperature has already hit its high for 31. The weather in Colorado (as I am sure Tim P will attest) is very unpredictable. Bottom line is that I got a bike ride in and some golf instead of indoor erg!

Beware of leprechauns! Full of blarney and tricks!

For sure. It was sunny and in the sixties here in the mountains yesterday and three inches of snow this morning.

Just got back last night from skiing in Aspen where the weather and snow conditions were PERFECT!!! My erg training didn't do me much good in terms of leg preparation for 5 hours of skiing each day (talk about calories burned) but it sure helped with the shoulder and arm strength when I needed to traverse.

Looking forward to getting back on the erg for March Madness and hitting my 4 million mark (more likely in April).

Great to hear from Tom again and cheers to everyone who has been rowing tough this week!!

Hey Luna-tics, I switched my profile to join the team. With my over half million meters this season, we are now within 303,000 meters of 13th place.
I may not be posting as many meters as I have been because the weather is getting nicer, but I hope it helps.

Hiya, and welcome. Are all those cute young'uns yours and, if so, how do you find ANY time to row? Your HM time is amazing.

Yes, the children are mine. I have four ages 6, 4, 3, and 1. Three boys and a girl. Time to row? Mostly evenings at my gym that is 24 hrs. Fortunately my partner and i co=parent. There is almost always a parent at home with the younger children, the older ones are in school. It also means that we each work, spend time with the kids and sometimes each other, and try to support each other in our interests. Well that is what we think we do anyway even if it does not always happen. Rowing for me provides me with tangible goals. In parenting, not all goals are reached and none of them are that tangible. As one of my friends puts it, she thought college was hard but potty training is harder.

Well for crying out loud. I forgot to row on saturday  I usually try to take one day a week and usually it is saturday. Sorry for that. I will be rowing my 10k from here on though. I was the slow starter but I will keep up for the finish.

BTW Calamity..I am sorry for you about the support you are getting. My husband is very proud and when I come home to tell him about the big milestones I make he gives my every encouragement. He is with me on this as he says he would like to keep me around for a while and this is how I ensure I will lower my stroke risk. I am not losing weight too fast but my total cholerserol is down by 16 points already in just 5 months.
